Been doing some research as my car seems to learn idle evertime i start and worried learn process for idle and run characteristics for porting will be lost?

So i see there is 2 types of memory within the ecu 1 that is lost on power down and 1 that is retained. But i have a battery isolator so wondering whether i need to permanent live feed to ecu to retain this info? If i just use key not isolator idle does not hunt on start up.

Anybody know?

In a word, yes.  By disconnecting the battery with your isolator you\'re wiping the fuel trims within the ECU\'s RAM that smooth out the idle and other such refinements.  Effectively it\'s having to relearn how to idle smoothly every time you de-isolate the battery and take it for a drive.  This is where it might potentially benefit from a Re-flash on something like a MazdaEdit to make these temporary corrections permanent.  That way it wouldn\'t have to relearn every time you isolate the battery.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

:cheersThanks mate ! thought so...research time.

Also maybe the way i rewired it as if left for a while with isolator on seems to go into learn...bit more research todo.

So who does Mazda edit remaps ? Hayward Rotary have the software? Im always going to have this issue as i cant bypass the battery isolator as its a safety feature reqd for racing and the isolator grounds the live feed from the alternator via a shunt resistor to earth if operated so there is no way to keep a feed on ecu without another battery and relay setup to isolate the 2 circuits.

Eureaka!
Sussed it to keep learn, removal of room fuse from my loom apparently resets memory...i dont have this in loom anymore!....its a permanent feed from battery to ecu via several fuses so need to make sure this feed to ecu is permanently live which means if i leave battery isolator on will retain fuel trims and idle etc...I wired this via ignition relay so its off when ignition off....all a "learning" curve! Will have a play tomoz to see if info read is correct.
