engine check light

hey,guys,happy new year to you all,hope you all had a good holiday,
will get to the point now, i have not driven my car for the better part of 2 weeks now so thought i would take it out, i checked the oil level, it was about half way on the dip stick so i topped it up, i spilled some oil, it was windy and the end result is now my engine check light came on about 20 seconds after starting her. do any of you guys know or have had a similar problem,any help and insight would be good, thanks (and its not got a blown seal or any oil leaks.all connections are tight and i never overfilled with oil)

Best to get a code scan asap mate.

hopefully a bit of oil has just shorted a sensor, but as above get a code reader on it
