We have basically done a de-brief of the problems of the day and now have a new list of jobs.

Change the water system configuration back to where it was before brands to retest as we had no overheating problems with initial runs on last Tuesday.

Reroute the water bleed system to put feed in and out of the electronic throttle body.

Take the feed for the variable speed fuel pump system out of the equation

Fit the fuel swirl pot into the system which I designed with an integrated Bosch 044.

Fit the fuel Autometer fuel pressure gauge I ordered yesterday as we had no idea of fuel pressure readings on track.

Then we will look at testing after Christmas but we only need a strip of land that we think we have found to just run the car up and down for mapping then after that I would test on tracks that the Nippon Challenge use so I can get an idea of the competitiveness of the car.

Looked at proper testing days, but Brands is £420 to test along with other racers which  puts the track days we do into perspective financially

Hi Clive,
Any local airfield trackdays near you?....i use motorsports-events.com closest to you would be Hullavington....Chipenham just by Junction 17 of m4....Not that far from you.
Best bit £99.00 or £109 and saturdays as well! Can get a lot of miles under the belt as open pitlane.
worth a look.
Ed and Natasha who run them are great and Ed is a racer through and through. laptop may be an issue but if you asked and explained situation i\'m sure he would be accomodating. If you didnt ask and 1 of the marshalls caught you he would sling you off though! Runs a very tight ship which i think is great.

Hey Jon, how does Ed get his ship so far inland?

Hi Clive, we\'re running the std tank with twin std pumps acting as lift pumps feeding our swirl pot but we did think piped correctly we\'d get away with just running the std pumps at each side of the tank T\'d into each other with one way valves just behind the T feeding the fuel rail with a return to the tank.

Hi Martin,

I had a long chat with the Simon at Fuel parts today, as I rang to see if the Walbro  Ski-Doo snowmobile one way in tank valves ever came back out for sale as I felt this would be the only way you could run a pump in each tank.

The reason is, I felt just as Simon does as well that you will run into fuel balance problems and risk running lean, however these Walbro in tank valves in their original spec were never make again and their modded version is no good for motorsport .

As he said to make this system of yours work safely you really need a 2" diameter pipe to balance safely, my reply was "not a problem if you can drill a 2" hole in the prop-shaft" :rollin

Seriously, he agreed with me that as the RX-8 runs quite a sophisticated syphon system to balance the tanks, and  if you dont want to run the stock pump as a lift pump then run a direct replacement walbro with the swirl pot and one 044 with your return going back to the swirl pot to keep it feed.

This is the system I am now in the process of fitting anyway, in other words I am leaving the basic Mazda tank system alone that they developed and we know works very well.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks for the links guys but, one its a lot of money, next there is no weight mentioned, next my doors are now very light after a huge amount of attacking with a disc cutter leaving just the outer skins.

I would also have had a problem had I wanted to buy, parting with my hard earned cash toward the man who is selling them, but thank you anyway.
