I wonder how long that cat will last with all that heat??

That\'s the colour that cats run at all the time Grant.

Any car running in an MSA Championship that was built after 1999 has to have a catalytic converter fitted to compete.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Oh, must be a new regulation for Nippon ,wondered if it would work its way down from TOCA to us.Pointless if you ask me.

RotorHeid

??? something wrong there, if the engine was out of 1995 car and install into 2003 car.
It should able to run non cat  as per the blue book.

Martin Price

I don\'t think the Nippon has championship status, I think that\'s why its called the Nippon Challenge rather than championship, maybe this is why when I\'ve raced with the Nippon I\'ve got away without one.
Or its new for next year. I\'ll have to check.

Patience is the best way to describe our day out at Brands.

Yes as you know we expected a few problems but we also a problem that restricted the car to the use of literally only 1/2 and inch of throttle usage while we tried to get the fuel/ air mixture correct, driving with an egg under my foot would be a huge understatement.

First problem we had was that the water got hot but thanks to an old trick of mine no harm was done.

I have the overflow not plumbed to the ground but plumbed so the overflow squirts water up onto the passenger side of the screen, because if the car gets hot and dumps water you are not reliant on the next time you look at the gauge. This was a trick I was thankful of yesterday :).

Still puzzled that we ended up all, all meaning Kerim, Jaydee and myself performing a reroute of the water system even though as we ran the car for ten miles and then had the car ticking over for hours on Tuesday

As I said yesterday I always need to know "why" when something goes wrong so this is something I will revisit at another track day another time.

On top of that lost time we also lost "mapping" time when an eagle eyed marshal spotted Jaydee with the lap top and made us go away and take it out of the car for good (well for a while at least, sush!)

Please none on you read this and think the day was none productive as I always knew that yesterday was basically going to be a systems check day.

It was actually a great day and I went home happy with an enormous amount of information about the car and many questions answered and whilst I won\'t know its competitiveness until I get a chance to start pounding round with lap times to see.

I already know this car "feels right" out of the box and is already feeling like the car I wanted when I embarked on the path of showing that I could build the bulk of a race car in a lock up.

One of my biggest concerns has been answered already in that with the springs I have fitted plus the geometry alterations to gain as much rearward traction as possible,

I knew that "potentially" I was building understeer into the car, however the car seems very natural and importantly, easy to drive, and if a car feels easy to drive it tells me we are somewhere on the money with the handling, there was just a couple of hints at very slight understeer but this will not be a problem when I have power and can turn the back of the car on the throttle.

Please don’t read slide or drift into this because on a good car you can normally turn the car by just going onto the throttle a little early.

Thanks must go to Kerim and Jaydee for not only getting me there and being pit crew for the day but also to Carl for building an engine that can clearly cope with abuse.

Now thanks MUST go to not only the guys above but all you guys on this thread who have supported me along the way with not only with monies (thankyou) but also just showing an interest while I got the car from A to B thankyou.
All the best Clive

I see it\'s a non-MSA

Just checked and it looks as though strictly speaking we should all run with a CAT but its never checked as there is no specification specified so some run with de-cats and some with nothing.

First time out is always shakedown runs , good for ironing out tweeks, bet it still felt fast with just an inch and half of throttle!

Sounds like you\'ve made some serious progress, and we all know how each car has a personality and likes to test you once or twice before letting you have your way :)
