Hi All,

Here we go, here\'s a picture of the MAF sensor installed, still doesn\'t seem right to have MAF and MAP both installed but the RX-8 MAF acts as a heat sensor as well as a flow sensor to give the ECU info alongside the MAP sensor.

I always felt I needed this installed and got the Racing Beat alloy MAF tube like a year ago, as you can see below I chopped it up and fitted it in the Intercooler pipe.

Over the next week I\'m going to try to finalise the exhaust and plumb the screamer pipe back in plus a few other odds and sods then try and get Jaydee in the car to map it.

As for rules, basically the goal posts move about a bit on this one and as you will see below this is why I wanted the more than 400bhp capability.

Will, you will see your car would fit comfortably in a class below with a good chance of winning.

Hmmmmm, gives me an idea.  I\'m starting my new job on Monday so I ought to have the funds to make it happen over the next few months!

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Quote from: Will66;867924I think the F1 motors will run pop-off valves so that if the boost gets above a certain level it vents to atmosphere and you lose power.

In the past yes, still not a surefire way in the modern world, air restricter is the only way to go in my eyes, you can get more CFM without hitting a certain boost threshold, through turbo design. Eg one turbo could be flowing 300 CFM at 2 BAR and another 350 CFM at the same boost pressure

What you are discussing here is not exactly a new thing! People have been racing cars on circuit for decades and having power formulas along with weights.
Not much point debating it really.
The rules are taken care by a number of measures.

Whats suspension will it be running, I think corner speed will win races then straight out top speed and power to be fair?

Me too. People have always abided by rules for racing but it\'s each persons interpretation of a rule which can help them gain an advantage over others. With a wide variety of cars in a series it\'s difficult too give a level playing field as some things benefit other differently.

The FIA GT championship is the prime example, they have v8 v10 v12 cars all different power levels and different levels of aero to monitor.

The only question is will Clive dyno the car if Jay is mapping it on track? Hmm

Tein suspension or is it tien?

BlitzBoy

I Quite like HSDs, they seem to perform, or the Ohlins where you change the settings on the fly, I wonder if they allow active suspension like the Williams in the early 90s

Ohlins are £1600 a set for the RX8, KW Competiton 3 way dampers are £5k for the RX8. KW Two way dampers are £2100 too.  Not sure what the price for Nitron shocks are but they aren\'t cheap.
