Christmas came early!!

Well it\'s finally here after nearly 2 months waiting! She was due to arrive Saturday morning at 8\'ish - however the transporter bloke has another job to do in London so he decided to drop the Rex off early - he arrived at my house at 2:30am!! Despite the fact that I\'d only just back from the pub and was heading for bed, and that it was sodding freezing outside. I was still just really pleased that it was finally here!  

I looks so much better than I imagined - I only had two poxy pictures of it from when it was in the Jap auction - which really didn\'t do it justice. It\'s no-where near as nice as some RX-7\'s I\'ve seen - but it\'s mine, and I think it looks the dogs b0ll0x!!

There\'s a number of things that need sorting on it. It came with a HKS Speed Limit Defencer, but that\'s un-plugged and I don\'t know where it goes? Also, the HKS EVC wasn\'t connected, and although the appropriate cables/plugs are hanging down from under the steering column I\'m reluctant to plug it in as there really is a bit of a mess of wires hanging down under the steering column - don\'t want to plug the wrong thing into the wrong place :confused:

I\'ve replaced the battery, rear viper blade, and front left indicator bulb - but those are only small things. There\'s a bit of exterior damage but nothing too serious.

The biggest concern I have the fact that plenty of black smoke pours out of the exhaust - I\'ve smelt the fumes and it smells very petrol\'ly - could it be running rich? Does this problem sound serious, easy to fix?

Any opinions, thoughts, comments, critisms (keep construction please), would be most welcomed.

Hi,

Dunno, if you got my last mail. I saw this in Liverpool, did look good especially the roll cage inside.

The damage to the near side rear wouldnt be too bad to fix.

As for the petrol\'y smell. Is that when you\'re driving or just on idle? Either way, Black smoke is too much fuel, infact a lot of fuel. I suppose it would be excess petrol being burnt and therefore running rich. Need to book it in with a specialist mate.

Hi Freddy, it smokes a lot at idle - I haven\'t driven it yet, not just because it would be illegal, but because I want to take it to a specialist first to sort out the \'running rich\' issue. Thanks for the advice mate

Thanks for the comments.    I\'m right down on the coast - Clacton-on-Sea - probably some distance from you, but if you ever go to any of the regional mini-meets then I\'m sure you\'ll be able to see it in the flesh.

I think the EVC should be re-connected as it\'s proably been set up to run off it. Unplugged for the trip and SVA perhaps??

Definatly worth having a Rotary expert look at the ECU and engine before running around.

I was thinking of taking it to Nemesis Performance who are just down the road from me - have you or anyone else on here had any experience of them?

I\'ve been there once with a friend when he was picking up a part for his Skyline, and I noticed amoungst the many performance vehicles there, there were 4 RX-7\'s - so I would assume they know what they\'re doing with Rotarys\'.
