Lisa has kindly started off a NAMES ONLY list for tracktime at Japfest - LINK HERE

Please use this thread for any questions or discussion. It\'s very early yet, all we have is the date for Japfest and no details of any tracktimes. We are currently assuming tracktime arrangements will be much the same as last year, ~20 car sessions and ~18 minutes on track, price ~£30-£35 per session. Noise limit will likely be 100dBA, standard for Castle Combe, but lower than the 105dB operated at some other tracks.

As in previous years, we will try to arrange one exclusive session (or more) IF there is enough demand. In 2012 we filled two sessions and had names on a reserve list. In 2013 the club paid for two sessions and was unable to fill all the places :(

So, get your name down on the list so we can gauge demand. Once we have the details from Japfest we will ask everyone to pay up-front and we will secure exclusive "Rotary Only" session(s) with Japfest to show off our cars to the Japfest crowds and have some fun too! We will need to do this fast, as tracktime for Japfest is usually very popular and sells out quickly. Hence the reason for starting the names list off now.

A separate thread will be started sometime soon to collect names for Japfest entry tickets and stand passes, so keep watching :)

Just wondering whether the Westory will be allowed to play on track?

and...Castle Combe is 100dB unless they have recently revised, i hope not as that will really  put the spanner in the works for me as im at 100dB.

Thanks boosted, I was thinking of the 98dB fiasco we had at Goodwood back in August. Their meters were consistently reading every car about 10dB higher than ~25 measurements at other circuits and caused some real problems! That debacle has obviously stuck in my mind for some reason :Laugh I\'ve corrected the statement up above.

Much as I\'d like to see your Westroy on track with us (and I really would), it will not be allowed under Japfest rules of "Japanese cars only" inside the circuit - sorry :o

Done it for a couple of years now, always a good day out.

Do you think we can get a better club stand position this year.

^^ Good man for "signing up" again :Thumbs-up

I think the ideal, and Clive agrees, would be the stand position we had about 2 years ago, near the track exit into the pitlane.

It had a good view of the track, just over the fence, and easy access to the paddock for those doing tracktime.

It also wasn\'t too far to walk to get to the trade stands.

However, the Japfest organisers will never guarantee a specific location, but we will request where we would like to be and see how we get on.

No problem ...worth a try....I\'ve always got the Colt !"  Might have a year off tracking at Japfest what with the big rookie year and actually get to walk around and see the stands and come and have a look at your cars. :Thumbs-up

No helmet hair and body odour from being on track.:rollin

How much are tickets likely to be?

Im pretty keen to go and i may aswell stick my car on the stand :P

Casey

^^Hi Dan, I\'m sure Lisa will be putting up an item in the club shop later to enable people to buy tickets which will also include a stand pass. I\'ll post up in here when tickets available to purchase.

Tickets are likely to be at cost for MRC guests, that\'s £20 for a car with up to 4 people (inc driver). Usually there will be a discounted price for MRC Full Club Members.

Don\'t but tickets direct from Japfest if you want to be on the club stand, as it gets more complicated for Lisa. No hurry to get entry tickets at this stage, but we do need to identify numbers for tracktime as this sells out very quickly!

Thanks for the heads up.

I was at the show last but on the civic stand but seems a little silly to be on there this year though :P

Casey

:( Sadly it seems we do not have enough interest to get anywhere near 20 rotaries on track at Japfest next year. I\'ve spoken to Clive and Lisa this evening, after Lisa had spoken to Graham (G3), the Events Coordinator over on the RX8OC.

As a result, we are asking people to join the RX8OC track session list, so we might just get one viable session up and running.

All is explained over here;

A final reminder about key points for Japfest;

GENERAL POINTS:
1. If you are on the club stand, aim to get to the local area no later than 7am if you want to avoid massive queues. In previous years the traffic has resulted in people queuing for up to 2 hours

2. Gates are open from 6am for cars on club stands, but Clive, Lisa and myself won\'t be on stand until ~7.00-7.15am. Public entry is not until 9am.

3. Everyone on the stand should have their entry "mirror hanger" with "B4" on it. So, entrance B and the Marshall\'s will direct us to the stand. We think it\'s roughly where we were last year (for those who are returning), but could be anywhere from the Paddock area to "Quarry" corner.

FOR THOSE GOING ON TRACK:
1. For those doing the "Original", joint track session with the RX8OC, the tracktime is 11.36 (so aim to queue up about 20 mins prior). I don\'t have the briefing time, but expect it to be 10.30. TRACK PASSES HAVE TO BE COLLECTED FROM THE RX8OC STAND AND SIGNED FOR IN PERSON BY THE DRIVER. The RX8OC stand is just before Quarry corner, so I intend going down to collect mine ~8.30am, before the place gets really busy with the public entry from 9am.

2. Anyone (I and C J R certainly) who paid for an "aborted" track session back in Jan/Feb can collect a refund from Brian (Shagrington), the RX8OC Treasurer, whilst down on the RX8OC stand.

3. TRACK SESSION K (second rotary session). The track time for this is 12.30, briefing at 11.30, but remember to allow plenty of time to sign on before the briefing.THE TRACK PASSES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PICKING UP FROM THE MAZDA ROTARY CLUB STAND BETWEEN 8:30 and 10am. Please pick up your passes early so we can all relax. See Pete (Conann) Paula (Ppitstop) or Clive + Lisa (MRC). I will pick mine up on the way back from the RX8OC stand and then walk straight over to the Strawford Centre to sign on (so ~9.00) and then go to the first available briefing (you don\'t have to go to any specific briefing slot). Best to get this out of way early and collect your wristband to confirm you\'ve been briefed.

4. SOUND TESTING - allow plenty of time when going for your track session to queue up and get your car checked. The sound test area is usually located close to the track entry/exit, by the footbridge. I suggest those on the 11.36 session leave the stand no later than 11.00 to allow time to get through the crowds, get sound tested and queue up for the track session.

5. You only need to do the sound testing once and attend ONE briefing session, even if you have multiple track sessions.

6. If going on track - DON\'T FORGET YOUR DRIVING LICENSE (both parts if you have them) and YOUR CRASH HELMET. Remember to wear clothing that covers you arms and legs.

7. Make sure you\'ve got plenty of fuel when you arrive in the morning getting fuel during the day won\'t be easy.

I hope I\'ve covered the key points. If I\'ve missed anything important then please post up on here. I very much look forward to seeing everyone and hope the rather dismal weather forecast is inaccurate :Laugh

Finally I will get to see if we can get some pace out of the car.

Jaydee did some last minute mapping (thank you)  but rain stopped play,

Even though I am going to run at 1,000 revs less at least it will see some boost then if we get through Japfest ok first race will be Donnington on June 7th
All the best Clive

Mr Froggy

At last it\'s ready to go. Hope you all have a great day.
