Seems like its a good day for me to make LOADS of new threads :D

Right then , I don\'t seem to have any dash lights .. which is pretty bad to be honest

All my lights work around the car ( head lights , tail lights etc.. )

The clock and idiot lights are working fine , when you put the lights ON , the clock dims , so it knows the lights are on

Just no lights behind the dash ( speedo , rev counter )  or even the heater controls

I have twiddled the dimmer control from min to max and nothing happens

I have checked the ROOM fuse and I have to admit , it looks OK

Is there anything simple to check .. or do you think its a dodgy switch

Im still wondering if this has anything to do with my rear fog light not working ??

But I cant see why the fog light switch would be connected to the dimmer side of the dash ???

Any advice would be welcomed at this point :D

Thanks

Stu

So to confirm, every other light works expect the dashboard back light?

errrr...

All exterior lights work

Door lights work

Ignition key light works

No logicon / fag lighter light / speedo / revs etc...

Not sure about the actual fag lighter though

I will check the ROOM fuse with a meter tomorrow

What I should check is pulling it out and see if anything still lights up .. im pretty sure that the door lights work on the ROOM fuse which I why I was ruling it out

I suppose if I pull the fuse and they stay on , they aren\'t effected by it

Last time it did this I gave the dimmer adjuster a tap and they started working .. so it could be a dodgy switch .. im sure I have a load in the garage somewhere .. but that means pulling more of the car apart :(

BUT - this wont effect the MOT at least :D

Not sure about the radio either to be honest , will stick in the head unit tomorrow and see what happens

Mine did this a while back. It was the dimmer switch on mine that was faulty. Think it was lack of use TBH. a bit of a whack soon sorted it!

mine does that. but intermittant. a few whacks turns it on again but since changing the instrument cowl (with one that can be properly screwed in place from the botom screws) its not turned off.

im sure its screwed in correctly and not 100% sure why that would make a difference ??

Check all the connectors on the back of the dash - if the one on the LHS is loose you will loose the lot IIRC
