Hell ive just walked in and read this thread. Im really sorry to hear about it. At least you are both ok. Just a real shame, It was damp in places, but it seemed to be pretty good monday night. Shame such a good night ended in that. Hope your feeling better soon (sleeping better too !) and have it or another rx7 very soon.

Was it your daily run around or a weekend car ??? How much NCB have you got ?

Yes it was my daily runner :(  so it looks like I\'ll be buying the spare company car after all until this is sorted.

I was 1 month away from 5 years NCB and now I\'ll loose 2 years plus 11 months this year :( back down to 2 again...

I might actually not claim if its a right off, keep my NCB in tact and strip it for parts?? Or if its an economic write off fix it myself and not claim?

Sorry to hear about it mate...:(

Know what it\'s like - the only good thing for me was. Some muppet ploughed into the back of me so my ncb was fine.

Had a red mr2 at the time and it got written off.....  :(

lets all hope your baby doesn\'t have to visit the big scrapyard in the sky.

If they do - def buy the car back.... I bought the mr2 back for £200 then sold it on ebay 2 days later for £950. some good business in my book - They also paid out a half decent offer only £200 sort of what i wanted.

Also one of my mates has just had someone hit the back of his 200 sx pretty hard and we just heard today they\'re fixing his car so it may not all be doom and gloom - his car looked a right state.

On another note - whos all heading to knockhill on saturday?

Just a quick update on progress...

Garage is picking the car up tomorrow for assesment.

I am told the engineer from Tesco will then visit the garage and decide what to do with it. After this he will call me and give the verdict. I have told them I want to keep the car if its a total loss no matter what. If its repairable then great.

I spoke to an indipendent assessor this morning who said he will come round once I have the verdict in from Tesco. He also gave me a value over the phone which tesco are likely to use of £7600 based on 85k miles and mines only done 60k.

So with any luck over the coming few days I will know whats happening.

If its a write off then again I am told the salvage will be worth approx 10-15% of the payout. So if I get £7k I\'ll get the car back for about 8-900ish which is fine by me.

I can then either repair myself or scrap it for parts.

Watch this space

Cheers

You\'d make alot of money breaking it, but it is a pain in the backside.

Myself and 2 other friends bought a scrapped 1994 Prelude a while ago, we stripped it and sold all the bit :) - basically we turned £590 into about £2000.

Its hard work though and you have to deliver the parts quickly and well packed otherwise people get annoyed :(

Really sorry to hear of your smash mate, glad you and your dad are ok.

I know you mentioned you cant be bothered with the Council route, but.. they are liable for diesel spillages, it might be worth a couple of calls to people in the know, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

Hope all works out.

Hi wiggy, Bad luck mate, sorry to hear of your crash, glad you are as well as you are, and that it was not any worse than it was.
i dont know if this contributes in any way,
My lad works in a tyre fitting bay, and says that new tyres come with a silicon type release agent on the surface, ready to catch you out! and it takes a while to scrub this off, i wonder if your new Toyo\'s were not up to their full grip, what you think! anyone else heard of this?
Bob

Tis true, i remember every time i got new tyres on my bikes you had to scrub them im before any real action.

wiggy

good point I never thought of that but they do have a slippery feel to them when new :(  probably didn\'t help thats for sure

ro284

My lad said handling new tyres all day, makes your skin waterproof!

Wiggy,

Bit late onto this thread mate.  Sorry to hear about all this in details but real lucky you\'re okay from the way you describe it.

See my PM if you;re still looking for a standard airbox.

:(

I know exactly where you mean and bet you 10 to 1 it was diesel. I\'ve wiggled the Z there once or twice. It was a diesel-induced wiggle in Trafford Park that finally killed it too!
