That could have ended badly... according to Charlie Whiting he was close to red flagging the race.

Pirelli have a bit of explaining to do....

We were on stow A all weekend and it made for fantastic action. Not the best of results but having 2 tires on 2 different cars explode infornt of you is mighty impressive with the crowds reactio. :)

I felt completely cheated whilst watching it if I am honest. It spoiled what was turning into a great race. For once at least one of the teams said "sod it we\'re gonna go as fast as we can, Try and keep up" only to find Pirelli had let them and everyone else down. Lets face it you\'d be furious if you were part of any of the teams, if the one bit of the car you can\'t control the design of kept failing. I just can\'t help thinking they should give them a tyre that can get them to the end of the race from the start.

Four serious tyre blow outs is bad news.  It is unlikely they were caused by debris so there needs to be a serious investigation into the tyres supplied and why so many failed.  At least the smirking Germanic goon failed to finish so there\'s a small upside.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Looking initially they where blaming the inside of the curb, they have got bigger recently (last few years) and there was a sharp inside edge. Although they are supposed to stay inside the white line.

Made for some goos watching on the telly.

Just off to see if the Pikes Peak feed is working now ! http://www.pistonheads.com/news/27993.htm

End of the F1 coverage they showed the curb in question...looked like a 10-15 mm step that the sidewall would hit into rejoining the track , was covered in rubber.....which would of meant cars where not using the curbs they where driving on the concrete after the curb!

F1 dominated by tyres this year, even more so than last. We are no longer watching the quickest car with the quickest driver, we are watching whichever team uses the tyres the best.

Hardly motorsport at its peak which is what F1 is "supposed" to be all about.

Pikes Peak though, Loeb smashing the record by 92 seconds!!!!!!!!!!

Will66

How much of the Pikes Peak record is Loeb\'s talent and how much is the fact the whole route is tarmac now?

Loebs time - 8.13

Rhys Millen (former record holder) - 9.02

I will let you work it out ;)

It was all Tarmac last year too, Peugeot have built that car for one reason, I would think if Audi took a real interest in PP they could smash the time again

Loeb\'s toight, but what Grant said, I\'d like to see some other big manufacturers at the Peak.

Ah well, seems there is no pleasing some people. Motorsport must be very dull for you with all the, ah but if they were there or he was driving... :WaveBye

Will66

Don\'t get all sad because people don\'t always agree, that would be boring.  However Pike\'s Peak as about as exciting test of performance as you can find and it would be cool to see more big manufacturers there.
