so basically i need to change half the back of my car to get it to move off the line at the same speed as my daily ? lol

I do like the shape of the FD though and the noise, just not sure I want to spend my life in the garage.

Your car is close to 20years old. Depending on what year you have. So you have to expect to do some work on the damn thing. The bushes will be shot to :censored::censored::censored::censored: if they have never been changed.

Don\'t take this the wrong way but if your not prepared to work on your car, or pay someone else to do it, then perhaps its not for you? Maybe buy a brand new car that doesn\'t require any work is for you

Considering you have no idea about the amount of work he has done to his car, why make a statement like this? For all you know he spends every evening and weekend working on his car. Not exactly a helpful post was it? In the words of Thumper from Disney\'s Bambi "If you don\'t have anything nice to say, then don\'t say nuthin at all....."

If he spends every weekend and evening and every penny on his car then he wouldn\'t mind fixing it then would he?

If you read his last sentence it sort of indicates that he\'s not interested in working on his car, he wants answers to help him with a problem but doesn\'t seem to want to put in the work?? These cars are old, it\'s as simple as that, and they require time and money. FD stands for Financial Deficit.

I have had the whole rear end out of an FD, changed all the bushes, welded it, and painted it and put it all back in. It\'s not that hard,  you can have it out in a day, get the bushes pressed in by someone with a press, and put it back in, in a day.

The whole sub frame drops out as one big unit

This seems like a good explanation:

- basically, your suspension bushings need replacing.

So no, you don\'t need to put a solid rear axle in or anything.

You just need to renew the suspension bushings.  As far as I know, all cars with proper rear suspension suffer from the bushings wearing out over time, it\'s not unique to the FD.

Cool story bro.

And saying something like removing a rear sub-frame is "not that hard" is completely ridiculous, maybe not to you, me or some of the other mechanically experienced people on here but don\'t assume that everyone would find it a doddle. Anyway i\'m not here to get in an argument, just felt your comments were unfair, but hey maybe its just me.

You may just have a rear lower trailing arm bush worn ( not sure of the exact name but lower arm in the middle with 3 mounting points)I believe its the common 1 to go first.... If you drive slowly forward...then selected reverse can you here a clunk from the rear? I had a similar issue i could not find worn bush with a lever bar but when it was off obvious.

Quote from: roborangefd3s;857082thanks Carl, it finished running in ages ago - we spoke about mapping remember?

so I need to get new coilovers then to stop the hop?

I know that its run in Rob having had umpteen conversations about it and all the other little jobs you keep asking me to quote for but none as yet carried out due to waiting on you.
What I am saying is since it has not been mapped (AFIK) wheel hop shouldn\'t be happening as the car should not be driven that hard yet until its mapped. Besides you should still be on a rev limiter of 4k too.

Have you had it mapped?
We warranty our rebuilt engines for Detonation, track day\'s and RWYB and NOW for 30 months which is two and half years or 30,000 miles
We also build all types of race or road engines.
We build race and track cars too.

called you twice in April re mapping, you said you couldn\'t fit it in due to other commitments and that you would do it in early May. I am currently trying to get it mapped yes but it is still on the limiter.

it was wheel hopping at 3000 rpm due to maxxis drift tyres being such hard compound and the previous owner fitted very small 235 width on the rear - with the larger tyres recently fitted it no longer hops at 3000rpm but I know it will hop once again once the limiter is off and the car is mapped because the hopping is caused by other factors beside the tyres e.g alignment/bushes etc - have ordered bushes and launch kit.
just trying to sort such problems while waiting for a date for mapping.

Might be an idea to go to a specialist to get the car fixed. Instead of just throwing money at new parts and hoping it fixes the problem.

or even at least get it diagnosed by a specialist and going to fix it yourself if your not want to get hit by labor charges.

Surely suspension or rx specialist could take one look at it and know the problem..

To add to my post and one of the replies that mentions diff rotation. Part of my V8 engine conversion removes the PPF frame and replaces it with a diff brace. Now I know Tinker will agree it\'s not the best solution (made by a US company) and he does things a little different. However it almost completely stops the nose of the diff rotating. So yes I do get some hop but it\'s now only on vary hard launches.

The last occasion was on a disused airfield using skinny (I didn\'t have any 17\'s at the time to fit wider rubber on) Maxsport remoulded semi-slicks with their softest compound.

There was some hop (actually worse on the left side on the track) but I was able to launch very hard and keep up with some very powerful 4WD cars on the day.

Only vid I have of my starts on the day below. Mine at 28 secs for about 10 secs :(
