Thanks Will!  Not one of the greatest products from across the pond - but it was an economical car by US standards (AMC claimed 30 MPG I recall) and it sold well with a largely unchanged design throughout much of the \'70\'s.

I won\'t speak for jinx Casey but when I was a kid I was always getting Observers books of either cars or aircraft, so I built up, and still do have quite a collection.  Also each year I used to get the big Motor Show guides featuring all the latest models.  On top of that my elder brother was a mechanic initially at BMC and then Ford, so our house was always full of car mags of some description.  Guess it was an interest which I have never grown out of .

As for your latest, my first thought was a local derivative of the Astra Mk3 or Seat Ibiza but can\'t see anything that matches.
