More power is needed to overcome the drag then? Yes yes? :D

Quote from: m1tch;828262The intercooler says \'Rotary turbo with intercooler\' which is series 4, below is a photo of a series 5 engine intercooler ie the turbo II - everyone in the UK got confused when their first turbo rotary was a \'Turbo II\' as the series 4 turbo wasn\'t ever sold in the UK lol

Series 4 engine - lower compression rotors, less powerful twin scroll turbocharger - it will have an actuator on the exhaust manifold - power is around 180bhp
Series 5 engine - higher compression rotors, more powerful turbocharger - no actuators - power is around 200bhp

Best aftermarket setup to use:

Low compression series 4 engine + larger turbo - the lower compression really does help with turbo applications, I think Mazda upped the compression slightly due to when you are off boost its an EGI, so the increased compression gave a bit more low end power.
Sorry mate, but wrong. Some or all JDM FC TII came with the Rotary Turbo Intercooled, even the S5. Mine did, the engine was bought as is from a 91\' JDM RX7 in 2005.

Also what I\'ve been told on rx7club, so I guess it can\'t be far from the truth.

Update

So i had the the fc3c for 8 months now,

its been a great laugh but as expected, awful on fuel!

So far i have:

Replaced the Kakimoto \'drain pipe\' exhaust with a stainless twin system
Replaced the battery
Replaced the alternator and belt
Full service
Replaced the imobiliser key fobs
Rewired the electric fan
Replaced a number of interior / dash plastics
Replaced the starting fuel valve

Resprayed the front bumper and lip

Decided to sell, as i was being boring and wanted a larger more sensible car.

But that never happened so i ended up buying another fc3c with a water seal failure engine!!

(Now breaking, let me know if you need any parts!)

Fitted HSD Coilovers

Abit too at the first attempt, couldn\'t even get it out of the garage over a 1 inch lip!

Raised it up to allow me to get in onto the ferry back to Ireland. (Dont worry it will be lowered as soon as it lands in Scotland next year!)

Fitted a Racing Beat system

Last weekend I drove the car back home to Ireland, to put it way for the winter.

As usual me and brother cant leave anything alone! The the air pump had to be removed along with the egr valve and a full service.

Dismantled the coilovers and covered them in copper grease to keep them from seizing up over winter.

Before grease

Put the car away for the next view months in a secure dry heated garage! (Actually warmer than my flat!)

Sneak preview of 2013

Looking awsome. So jealous of your brother being into them aswell, I cant find anyone round my way who has heard of one never mind has one!

yasiryassin

epic wheel choice! i was thinking of getting similar wheels but think il be sticking to standard wheels for a while lol.

Darn I want to fix up my FC3C now! Sucks to be a broke student for three and a half more years now!

But then again, you pay like 5000€ for a FD or Supra IV, we pay that for mid condition FCs here... one year as an exchange student in Ireland will surely make me crazy!

where will you be studying in ireland? give me or my bro a shout when you are over if you want to see some fC\'s

Ross

Probably Dublin. But ey, it is a three hour drive to everywhere in Ireland lol, or atleast Cork, which is where most of the people do live ^^

As for cars, I will be getting a Supra IV when living there, just because I can and it is my dream car! But I don\'t mind seeing more FCs, can\'t ever get tired of them!

2013 Update

Finally got the Fc out of storage and fitted all the parts bought over winter

Panspeed ECU

Rebuilt the OZ Vega Alloys

Picked up an old hks dump valve. (Thanks Dan!) Broke it down to paint it and found it had been modified in Japan with yen coin spacers!

Fitted solid engine, gearbox and diff mounts - race car!

Fitted a 3 inch down pipe and bored out the turbo exhaust housing and waste gate to avoid boost spikes

Changed the diff for an import LSD

Replaced the inlet gaskets as they were all knackered!

Lowered and set up for the summer!

clive

Excellent, well worth all the hard graft you have put it to make it look this good :Thumbsup!
All the best Clive

stu_irwin

Took a chance and bought a Cusco 6point cage designed for a hardtop.  Always knew the rear bars would need modified but hoped the rest would fit as the Convertible is essentially just the coupe with the roof chopped off!

Test Fitting

Unfortunately is does not fit!  Catches on the roof latches and it would be a nightmare to modify : (
Ah well, it would have been cool it it worked ! The cage is going up for sale!

fil_auto

Stunning looking Red FC. Lovely wheels, top work :)

Update

As i live in Scotland i thought theres no need for a heavy air con system loading the engine!

Turned out to be a bit of a nightmare as the fc turbo engine bay is packed tight with pipes!

Very restrictive air con radiator!

Removed!

Only the power steering left! - (Engine bay needs a big clean!)

To properly remove the system, you need to remove the huge condenser unit from under the dash

And replace it with an air con delete pipe

I have also been fitting more bits.

Rear Cusco Brace

A pity is hidden under the spare wheel cover!!

I\'m now on the hunt for a pair of bolt on 20-25mm 5x114.3 wheel spacers!! let me know if any one is selling a set?
