Just bought a \'93 but which one?

I just bought a \'93 RX7 but I don\'t really know which variant it is. It seemed like a bargain so I thought I\'d go for it, is there any way of telling what it is? I\'ve looked through the model guides but I\'m still unsure. Its just labeled RX7 effini on the back. It\'s got manual box, basic electrics plus air con, strut brace, no sunroof, no cruise control, front suede seats. I also read somewhere about the cooling system changing in \'93 to .9 bar, is this correct as mine is a .9 system if that makes any difference. Any info appreciated...

is there still a sticker on the sill when you open the door?  My R2 had its model type put there.  Sounds like it could be an R1?

How many oil coolers are there? Look through the vents under the side lights/indicators - on my \'92 base model the left-hand one (as you look at the front of the car) is blanked off as it only has one oil cooler on the right-hand side.

There is definately an oil cooler on the left hand side as you look at the car from the front (drivers side). I noticed it the other night when I\'d removed the headlamp assembly for repair to the motor(now working like new!). I haven\'t checked the other side but will do later although I assume there will be one there from what your saying. Does this narrow it down any more?

If it has the twin oil coolers then I think you can safely say its a type R1.  Does it have front and rear strut braces?

Yeah, it has front and rear strut braces too. So it\'s an R1 then most likely?

Sounds like it to me.  I\'m sure someone else will either halp to confirm or deny....

Sounds like mine.   I\'ve got twin oil coolers, front and rear strut braces and rock hard suspension

I believe mine to be a Type-R1
