Rich,

Not heard brill reports about Keighley.  Other people may have dealt with them and been fine but personally I would\'nt.  Have a look but just go there with your eyes open and makes sure your heart doesn\'t rule your head!!  Never heard of the other place.

Hi mate, i have been over there a few times to look at a skyline and to look at FD\'s

My advise is stay clear, they are cheap for a reason, i looked at 4 fd all had prev accident damage in japan, no paper work to support auction grades ect....

I test drove a FD it had loads of problems

Thanks chaps looks like you\'ve saved me wasting my Saturday.

There are loads of reccomended dealers on here, Plus there are normally some pretty good motors being sold privatley.

Best of luck finding a good un.

DON\'T GO NEAR KEIGHLEY TRADE CENTRE !!!

Bunch of cowboys. I drove there from Durham, which took plenty enough time, and out of the two cars I saw one had half it\'s engine missing, the other had screwdriver marks around the lock where someone had made a good attempt at breaking into it. I said to the guy \'is this stolen recovered ?\'. He said \'well you don\'t expect a new car for that price do you?\'.
Beeches were a bit better. They didn\'t want to take me for a test drive at first until I stood firm, and then the owner\'s son took me out and he pushed the car a little, you don\'t normally race motorbikes on test drives. Still, when I broached the subject of 65k and dead engines, they didn\'t really have a clue what I was talking about (usually it\'s me that doesn\'t have a clue).

If you want to invest money in a really decent FD expect to put in a bit of time, effort, and distance. I ended up buying mine near Sevenoaks at a company I would recommend to anyone.

Thanks Mart. They are definetly crossed off the list now.

I\'ve contacted Brian Ellis (not heard back yet) and Miguel @ Newera. Also been in contact with a few people on here selling so its looking like they are my best bet of a good car.

I guess used car centres have a lot of bad examples.

I think most used car centres dont really know what they are looking at, or they have got a really cheap import which a crap auction rating and are trying to sell it on for max dosh.

Either way there seems to be a no of reputable people here that will get you a good un.

We\'ve all just picked a type of car that you have to be extra careful with, that\'s all !
I visited Brian, actually at his home, and he had a lovely motor that we went out in, just a bit too raucous for me.
I travelled to Aberdeen and Southampton in my search, so just don\'t rush yourself !!!
Buying from another member of the club is always a good idea, at least you\'ll know it\'s been taken care of.

I bought mine from Miguel at Newera.  Top company.  Buy their DVD, Skylines & Skyscrapers if you want an idea of how they work. I did and it put my mind at ease parting with the money! Miguel is a member on this forum so he is always available to have a chat with and he owns a lovely RX7 himself.  He knows what to look for when buying and can see the tell tale signs of one without genuine mileage.
