Hey guys i need some advice,

I bought my rx7 last year with the full intention of changing her from Automatic to manual. The car already had a power fc commander in it which i\'m told does not work with the automatics as it controls the engine only and does not speak to the ecu for the gearbox.

Due to some other commitments i simply dont have the money till early next year to change the gearbox over to manual. Would you think its worthwhile me getting an auto ECU to use in the car until i can get it changed? I\'ve looked about and they are approx £50 or so.

Its just atm if i break to stop then the car stalls, the gear changes are quite violent and completely unexpected and i\'ve been told if this carries on it will destroy my gearbox. My girlfriends hours are being expanded which means she will need the main car more often and i will need to use the rex a little over winter. I just dont want to knacker it up or anything.

What would you do in my position?

Any info or help on this would be great.

Thanks

I believe you can fit a standard auto ECU to control the gearbox and still use the PFC for the engine but I have no personal experience of doing this, hopefully someone who has will post up.

The Apexi worked with an auto I had (except the boost button) maybe it needs resetting or Banzai racing do a harness which makes it all work properly.

*check with a tuner that your apexi ecu is ok before buying an adapter

All i know is the hold button feature does work. i was just told it shouldnt work with the gearbox. ive have a look and the old ecu has been removed and the apexi put in its place. am i right in saying that the auto ecu controlled both the gearbox and engine in the same unit?
