Everything you say is true, but I still think that showing the car off with the wheels filling the arches and a RR printout showing 400-something hp will help it sell.

One more thing that might attract ppl would be if you have any good videos from your trackdays.

This thread shows the experience of someone trying to sell a somewhat similar spec car, note the first post from June and the continually descending asking price:

this is where it is difficult putting a price on one of these. although the car you have linked is v v nice and in some areas the spec is close. mine is fitted with a full aspec turbo kit that retails for over 3500 dollars where as his kit is based on an ebay £100 manifold similar but no comparison. my car has 356 mm ksport front brakes and rz rear brakes his are standard so very close in spec overall but putting just those things on that car would cost the owner at least 2k more if he got 2nd hand gear to get to the same quality and spec.

i mean no offence to the other car im just pointing out how a similar looking spec car can easily have several items that are of a different quality or level that can cost thousands and thousands of pounds of pounds difference.

this is why it is difficult to put a price on a car thats spec\'d highly when the market is flooded by other cars that have similar spec or have been done on a budget which wont last long if pushed hard continually.

i think ive probably dug a hole for myself here but im just trying to highlight that whilst i understand why people are quick to put a low value on my car  if you actually look at the overall spec no expense has been spared anywhere and everything has been done to keep to every area of the car to handle the performance and power on road and on track.

You have hit the nail on you head yourself there buddy!

You cant compare your car to the one above, the fact they are both singles is really all they have in common. The spec of the car seems immaterial these days, most people see mileage since rebuild (and by who) and hp figures! The one above is barely run in, yours has 15k miles on it.

As someone else pointed out, body kit is circumspect to whether someone likes it, it makes no difference how much it costs and all the other above spec/quality parts you have wont change the value if thats not what someone wants.

As said on the other side buddy, no ones opinion will really be helpful to you, get a for sale thread out and see what offers you have and imho, pay no attention to anyone saying, this is a bargain, wow thats cheap, great spec for that price etc etc, money talks, so only pay attention to the actual offers you get!

Quote from: cyman;838273the car is extreme which is what most people wanting an rx7 are looking for

The last 4 people I talked to who have considered buying one are after standard examples and are put off by the fact that there are a very limited number of standard cars about.

You\'re going to struggle to get anywhere near what you would like it to be worth. When it comes down to it, its a highly inefficient cramped sports car with small market appeal and costs a horrendous amount to run...

m1tch

SORN it, put it in storage for a while until the market picks up else you will make a massive loss on it.

You haven\'t had many fast cars have you :)

Sadly your going to have it on the market for quite a while until the perfect Buyer pops up, the only other way to do it is return it to a near stock state and sell the aftermarket parts separately but unless you have kept the stock parts it will just become a huge pita. So you are left with either Advertise it for what you think its worth and go through all the time wasters etc until that perfect buyer comes along or break it (unfortunately) but know this the high value parts market is on its arse too at the moment so that may be high risk if you don’t have people lined up for the big stuff. Problem is if you sell as a whole you can forget 50% of the Part Value you put into it as Aftermarket parts are often concidered Dead Money if you leave them on the car, they just make it more desirable over the one next to it on the trader that hasn\'t had 20k spent on in it.

R1Dude

Stick it on pistonheads for 10-12k and it should sell abroad, my mates just went to South Africa for 12k and it was a similar quality build just v8 not rotary and didn`t have a bodykit or uprated brakes/diff etc, there are people who do know what`s worth paying the right money for and are prepared to do that, they just might not be in this country right now :)

cyman

i have a plan  :)

im going to go and get a comp test before i do anything then i reckon il put it up for £10995 on pistonheads and let it stay there for a while as im in no rush and if i decide to break it i wouldnt do it until it starts to warm up next year anyway. i will put on that i will accept a p/x for any decent standard car as i can always trade it in against the porsche  :)

... has nothing to do with anything?

What a thoroughly pointless comment.

The fact of the matter is, people don\'t have that much disposable at the minute. The vast majority of the ones that do are not buying 20 year old highly modified sports cars.

Remember, the entire world does not revolve around one car. Certainly not an RX-7.
