Hey guys

Took the FD for a nice long motorway burn last night, everything was great, running spot on.

When I came of the motorway and to traffic lights, i put the car into neutral and the thing began revving its self, needle goes to 1.5k then down to 1k.... Up to 1.5k then down to 1k and it keeps doing this when the car is stationary all the way home, felt like a right idiot at traffic lights with this thing revving all the time.

So I tried firing her up this morning, struggled a bit but when she came on the revs were stuck at 2k rpm. There is a noticeable vaccume type sound coming from behind the stereo....any ideas guys.

Don\'t really wanna turn her on with out fixing as the neighbours are going mental :(

Thanks.

Check your plugs fella and the map sensor is still attached. Then check all hoses are still attached from turbo to intake.
:Laugh LOL

Hey bud thanks for the help.

Had a look at the map sensor and it\'s plugged in n vaccume hose fine. Checked all the hoses that I could see n were ok.
It\'s a single turbo setup of that\'s helps, I\'m baffled :S The strange noise points to something loose but can\'t see anything :S

Change of subject but what front bumper is that on the orange fd?

Dragun

Can anyone see anything untowards in these pics? Only hoses i see loose are the water jet feeds for the windscreen. Theres a white tube thing coming out of the UIM in the first pic, what is this?

Turbo boy, its the bumper that comes with the burnout bodykit, i think CWest do one very similar.

that pipe thing is for the extra set of flaps which only open when the car comes up to temperature so you cant rev it hard from cold, most likely they will be done away with so i wouldnt worry about it. what year is your car? if its an earlier type which would have had the rats nest there is a heap of vaccum pipes like that underneath the uim near the middle at the bulkhead side, its possible that it could be 1 of them

Hi Wolfe

Thanks for the advice, it\'s a 93 model. would the rats nest still be there it\'s a single turbo? Thought this is eliminated when converting to single?

Follow the Hose back and make sure its not split anywhere. There isn\'t allot that would make it Hunt like that but the MAP sensor is one of those things.

Usaly they Remove all the vac Assembly when they fit a Single turbo, some times the Secondary throttle solanoid is left but as you have had the butterflys removed its Unlikly the solanoids are still there.

that is an earlier spec, they will be blanked off but 1 of the blanks might have a split in it

Ok so was sick the last week and only managed to have a play with the Rex yesterday. Took the uim off and inspected all hoses n plugs and everything seemed fine. So wanted to fire her up see if the issue was still there but nothing, car just kept turning over but not on. I\'m thinking flooded maybe? Can someone confirm with me that the deflooding proceedure for a 3rd gen is the same for a 2nd gen. Also is there any nipples on the uim that should have nothing connected to them or shud all the not used ones b blocked?

Thanks

Ok guys,

Deflooded the Rex this morning and no joy :(, so then I put ATF into trailing plug holes to lube up the apex seals just incase and boom, came on straight away...the neighbours weren\'t to happy because A) the smoke covered the whole street haha, and B) the idle problem was still there sitting at 2.5k rpm.

Looked around the uim and if you guys look at the first picture, the small white/yellow tube sticking out the uim sucked my jumper sleeve in and the idle went normal!!! :D

So capped this off and now the car is as good as gold :) if anyone can explain what this is and on a stock Rex what is attached to it that would be sweet :)

Thanks for everyone\'s input

Sounds like it could be a boost leak. Where does the noise come from?

Is your thermowax still there? Check the fast idle cam isn\'t caught on anything.

Failing the above, adjust your throttle bleed screw & see if it goes away.

EDIT: Ignore the above, didn\'t see last post :)

The piece you\'re describing looks like it was used to block the hole left behind when you remove the double throttle controls.
