headlight problems

hey people,
 
so close to mot time and then my fc decides it doesnt want to play the game
 
i did a search but could only find things about switches, headlight motors and lights being dim due to rubbish earths, my problem is a little more strange, the lights were all working perfectly then as if some one flicked a switch this happened:
 
if i brake dipped beam comes on but no brake lights
if i put sidelights on dipped beam comes on
if i put dipped beam on full beam comes on
if i put full beam dipped beam comes on
if i use the indicators full beam flashes at the same rate the indicators would but no indicators
 
this is really weird as everything was fine, i dont think its the switch as even with the switch disconnected dipped comes on when i brake
 
does anyone have any general ideas of what this might be before i start pulling things apart?

im attacking this problem tomorrow if anyone has any ideas what could be causing these faults?
