HI,

I\'ve been on here for years and a lot of Q\'s about bigger/better brakes have passed. From upgrading to 99 spec items over custom built kits by rotary companies as well as put together sets.

Overal, the first 2 are quite expensive, so over the years I have been contemplating alternatives as I am in the possesion of several big brake calipers (AP Racing CP5200, Brembo\'s, etc)

2 issues always appear...

1. Caliper adapter... could be solved if you\'re a metal worker or know someone.

2. What brake disc to use? If using 2-piece items... off the shelve items are rare as few companies ever made RX7 (FD) specific items.

Alternative could be to use standard items of higher end cars... to name a few... Audi R8, (R)S 4 or 6, Jaguar, Porsche and similar. You would just have to adapt the bolt pattern to 5X114..3 (if even that, depending on the car they are coming from)

I could imagine that \'normal\' steel discs would still be quite reasonably priced.

So, what are your thoughts and experiences? What brake disc from what car would you recommend price/quality/resourcability wise?

subscribed, my brakes are awful and im not paying £1000 for new ones - there are loads of old Porsche, Aston, Jag brakes on ebay for cheap but what is good and how do you fit it? was looking at this the other day but got no clue.

I\'ve always used brakeparts.co.uk to see what size discs and calipers are. I run K-sport fronts (356 discs) and stock rears. I don\'t have any vac assist and gives me a big work out on track.

They stand up to huge amounts of stopping and can do a good 20-30 minute session on track without the brakes fading. Usually the tires go off first.

I fancy bigger rears, but the stock rears aren\'t the smallest brakes in the world.

Seems like a forum member is selling a put together kit with Aston martin DB6 discs.

They had the stud pattern changed and used as such... (as far as I know)
