Alright guys,

had the little mazda on the road since april now, and am starting to think about rear axle changes - not so much because it needs it, more because the ratio isnt ideal.
Currently running 15\'\' wheels with 185/60s, a 13b extend and 12a s3 rx7 box - im really impressed with how the engine runs and pulls the little chassis along.
I\'m going to free up the exhaust and fettle with the steering and brakes, so i just want to shrpen everything up and give it a more driveable feel - with the current ratio  first seems utterly pointless!

So what are you recommendations for a narrow (48\'\' flange to flange or less) and strong axes? Scimitar 4Ha? ford english seems borderline on strength, but parts are a doddle to get hold of. Volvo looks far too wide.

If you go for an old (1972 and on) Toyota HiLux rear axle it will have the right measurement from the beginning. Just a few changes need to be done.

I have done a rear axle change on my 1300 now...
Found out that Mazda B1600 fits perfect, even in lenght.
I have also bought a B2600 and put that in the 1600 axle, fits straight in!
LSD and tougher than the B1600.
I will soon put up pics in my project tread here.
You can look at some pics here, but the text will be in Swedish... http://nrcc.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22&start=120

But as I did say, I will update my tread here soon!

They need to match the tube.
70mm or 2 3/4"  and not shorter than 155mm.

I shall be fitting a B1800 axle too - Have you got details of how you redrilled the hubs and rewelded the spring saddles?

Cheers
