Hey has anyone been to see Prometheus yet?

What did you think?

I went to see it last night and after reading all the reviews that said it was crap an no where near the original alien i actually thought it was rather good and clever.

Of course you wont get near the original Alien as its a classic and absolutely fantastic. Im just glad Scott didnt fall into the Lucas trap. Make a great film then years later do a prequel and find it sucks!

Over all really enjoyable clever designs however you know that there is going to be a sequel to this (despite the fact that Scott has already said theres going to be 2 more) you just know that at the end the story isnt finished.

All these reviews about trying to meet our makers etc......is it me or am i getting this wrong......where not watching it to find out where we came from......arnt we watching it to find out where the alien creature came from? and how it evolved into the alien we know? atleast i am. Couldnt give a F:censored::censored:K where we came from lol.

Any other reviews?

Id say a good 4-4.5 stars. Still room for improvement and i bet if Scott gets his way like alien there will be lots of extra bits in it when it hits DVD which makes the whole story line better.

I think thats something people forget when a director finishes a movie. It has to go through the production company and if they say to change something or make something shorter then the director has to do it. I bet Scott wanted more to be in it.

I went to watch it the first saying came out. What I had in my head of how I expected it to go was nothing like the film. The film was great although I did want more alien action, but that is what alien film are about, you know they are there to be on edge of your seat just waiting for them to appear, as with all the alien films.

I didn\'t know they were doing more of the film after this one but I can\'t gladly say I can\'t wait!!

My favourite part of the film has to be the face hugger. Boy is that thing scary as hell.

Yeah i think what scott is trying to do is show you how the alien began life. So naturally its not going to contain much alien life as we remember (and im only 26 so cant remember the original in cinema lol) Now the creature was revealed i think he will now show us the evolution of the alien until it finally reaches the alien we all know. Basically infecting engineers and most likely the odd redhead human lol

The face hugger was great! it looked a little like the original however you could see how it started off. Now itll evolve into the face hugger as its life goes on. I think the next one will show the engineer planet. The thing i couldnt understand is how the alien burst out of the engineer at the end. Now that alien is all alone on LV233, i think they should have had an Aliens style sneak on the ship and hide till it reaches its new destination.

I think we need a colonial marines movie :) :)

Grant Monkhouse

yes the face hugger in prometheus is more of a body hugger isnt it, as its huge. the alien burst out of the engineer full sized because the engineer was a big dude, and was planted in there by a huge facehugger. Thats the explanation i can think of and im sticking too it.

the alien left on the planet will have been a queen, no doubt about that so its going to lay eggs, however iv just watched the alien quadrilogy this last week and it looks a lot like the alien in alien 3, walks on all fours like a dog which is in fact a queen protector. (think im turning into an aliens geek here :( )

colonial marines the game is set after the events of aliens, the second film, on board the marines ship. i will be getting the game as iv been waiting for it to be released since it was first in OXM. BTW im only 26 too but know the first film all so well;)

jetpilot

OI, for those that havent seen iit, do we need film details!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grant Monkhouse

i was trying not to give details but its hard talking about a subject but not actually talking about the subject??

you could have stopped reading the post.

i suggest going and seeing it jetpilot, its a good film. i think it was released at the wrong time, just after avengers which broke all box office records and was an awesome film BTW

I\'ve seen this and thought its the best film i\'ve seen at the cinema for a long time.
The action was good with out being massively over the top (although this is Hollywood so you have to expect it to be a bit mad), the dialogue was interesting without being tacky and the reverse engineering of the alien was clever.
I dont think this was designed to be the start of a serise of prequel films, just a one of stand alone film showing how the alien storyline came about. I would love them to do another as i\'ve always been a massive fan of the Aliens films but i think they should leave that side of it be now.

My only annoyance was running out of popcorn to soon (bloody small bags in the shop next door) and the jumped up :censored::censored::censored::censored:wit behind the counter who was really unhelpful when it came to my beverage needs :Grrr

agree with you there adasan, its nice to have a film that is just a good film, unlike a lot of these films that cost billions and are over the top, such as avengers, but avengers wouldnt be the same without being over top.

SPOILER ALERT!!! STOP READING IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE FILM

i do like how they have essentially tied into the fact that the first alien is infact derived from humans. that was the way i saw it anyway. infected man makes none infected woman pregnant, mutant baby, ie huge face hugger, face hugger infects engineer creator of human race, first alien is born.

in all of the senarios going through my head i didnt expect that outcome in the film, which made the film more enjoyeable as i couldnt predict what was going to happen next, which i seem to be able to do with most films these days. which is probably what Ridley Scott was trying to capture, the same as he did with the original Alien film

Grant Monkhouse

there must be another film to come after this as in alien one, there is an engineer sat in that huge seat which has had an alien birth out of its chest, and that wasnt shown in this film

TiddlesRX7

Yep defo gonna be a next one. I came out of this one with as many questions as I did answers. I was slightly disappointed with the film in a lot of way and really happy with it in others. Still not sure what I would give it out of ten!!!!! I saw it last week too :) I think the next one will be more like the Alien films with more hunting and fighting involved which I thought this one lacked. Then again it had to set the story up otherwise the next ones wouldn\'t make any sense. God thats confusing!

Only gave it a 5/10 rating, really looking forward to watching it and was hugely disappointed.

Deffo could have been more explanations in the movie of what was happening :spank
