Hey everyone,

Has anyone used Nippon Auto Spares?

They have this for sale.....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-RX7-ENGINE-FD3S-13B-TWIN-TURBO-/370609656133?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item564a0e9145

They say they can get you pretty much anything.

An engine like that for £2100 thats only done 56K km

What you think the chances are it needs a rebuild.

Just seems you could get something like that and Strip the old engine for parts and make most of your money back :3gears-lh

Or is this just me dreaming ha ha :Hammer

Ok just had an email back from them......very friendly people.

They mention it being a swap so i think they would want my old engine. Which is not bad as it really could do with a re build haha.

100% on feedback, these guys seem really good. I just know that with rotarys its a guess to the condition of the interior.

Rebuild your own engine then is my advice. I would never buy an engine off someone unless they were very reputable club members off here or fduk and even then, there is still a risk involved. I\'ve heard too many times "this engine is supposed to be this, that and the other" but when you find out it isn\'t, it just leaves you feeling ****** off and wishing you would have just repaired your own.

Why does your engine need a rebuild? What\'s wrong with it?

If im really honest i dont think mine does need a rebuild. I bought it last year and it had been sitting for 2 years. I was informed it needed a rebuild due to it loosing water. Only maybe doing approx 30-40 miles or so then buzzer going off.

Hence why i got it so cheap, this coupled with the fact its an auto. So when i got home with it i got under the bonnet and looked all over it. I just assumed it needed a rebuild. Until i started to notice water in the engine bay. The pipes had not been changed since new and had read mazda pipes were very bad for going weak and splitting.

So i topped her up started her and let her run and just sat and watched the engine. To my surprise i noticed at least 5 pipes dripping water. So i\'ve started to replace them one by one. The main offender being the water pipe at the back of the engine leading to the top of the throttle body.

I cant see anything else leading me to believe it needs a rebuild. There is smoke from exhaust but that clears after the first few seconds or so.

Other than that im a little stumped.

Now i just have a bouncing idle :(

2100??? For an engine with no history?? And on top of that they want an engine back in PX??! That\'s ridiculous money.

I bought a used motor from them years ago, and it was ok.

BUT, I also bought a used turbo from them and had to return it.

It took me months and a letter from the small claims court for them to give me my money back - even though I had returned the turbo and they acknowledged receipt of it. They never did cover my full costs either.

NEVER again. :reallymad

(disclaimer - this was my own personal experience and it was years ago)

I brought a used Toyota 3SGE MR2 lumo from them about 7 years back... service was good but the claimed \'low mileage\' engine had probably done 100,000 rather than 40,000miles...  It was cheap and they let me negotiate on the warranty after I had inspected the big ends.
