I have hired a car trailer and am transporting my RX7. I\'m thinking of winching it on backwards rather than forwards.  Any reason (i.e. safety) not to transport it this way? It has a high GT style wing.

you want the weight (engine) forward of the axle of the trailer will be unbalanced.
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)

engine built by....... umm me! now powered by a T51 Kai......

As it\'s near 50/50 weight distribution I could just get as close to the front as possible?

Just thinking aloud here but with the slight tilt on the GT style wing, wont towing it backwards give you a higher risk of it being ripped off on the motorway by the wind?

Just a thought......

the weight should be between the axel and the towing vehicle mate but as long at what your towing it with is heavy itll be ok as for the wing youll be doing 50 tops id  say no bother you wont get it ripping off

When my heater matrix ruptured they towed my car away on a flatbed. Had to be reversed on due to the low front bumper (didn\'t have my diffuser back then). Was no problem.

I\'d take off the blade of the GT-wing if I were you.

the spoiler should be fine considering you probably drive faster the 50 mph normally so going 50 on a trailer wont put it under any more stress then normal

Front on as far forwards as possible.
