4WD FD Conversion?

Has Anyone done a 4WD Conversion on there FD before?

Its something i will prob look into later on in doing if its possible.

If you are looking for a cheap 4wd set up i\'m just about to remove the engine from a damaged 4wd Nissan Stagea / Skyline estate. You could have the whole car for a few hundred quid less the engine :Thumbs-up

Rob, one of the guys around this way was telling me he\'d looked into doing a project like this but using an Impreza drivetrain.
Question is why would you want to do it? Unless you wanted to do rallying or someother type of off roading i dont really see the point for all the effort

I really can\'t see the point in a 4wd fd I\'m pretty confident you won\'t get and better handling capabilities on the road or track. Like Adam says unless your going to rally it there there is not too much point.
Would be interesting to see though

a 4wd drive conversion would be good for rallying, but thats about, you would have to use a 4wd system which keeps the engine mounted in the same position, such as a skyline setup, hwever i think that will be too heavy.
 
if you want 4wd i would personally just get an evo

Just had a thought about it for better handling n more safe rather than spinning out now and then.

I love the Rex and won\'t buy an evo again unless i was rich enough to buy one for a run about haha....

Better handling?? Mazda gave the fd near perfect weight distribution and great handling characteristics, adding 4wd would mess it all up, add extra weight etc if you are concerned about spinning then I suggest it\'s the driver not the cars ability.

:driving I agree. Will only spin out if you don\'t learn to master good throttle control whilst turning the steering wheel. :burnout

I,ve never spined out before but worried incase i do if throttle control  and counter steer is not fast enough as i like to exit the corners and  round abouts with the throttle down, scary but fun but then again shouldn\'t as its a danger to public aswell if goes wrong!

There\'s your problem, you\'re driving a RWD like a 4WD, you need to learn to control your throttle to match the road. Get yourself on a propper driving course with advance techniques, will save you quite a few notes and possible even your life.

for driving fast on the streets you\'re not going to beat 4wd.

For driving fast on on a track, rwd will probably be better for a good driver.

Depends what your after, if you want to get round a track or streets as fast and easily as possible go for 4wd. If you want to have fun go for rwd.
