It does sound like its flooded to be honest

not too sure on a FD , but remove EGI fuse and plugs , crank a few times , put everything back , try and start it :D

might be worth checking hes got the leads on the right plugs aswell

if he changed them one at a time , that shouldnt be a problem though

I\'ll stick summit up in morning when i look on my car as hand on heart cant remember 1 set is a wasted spark so could only be 2 leads wrong....is it the short ones or long ones, cant remember whether its the lead or trail.
Prob better off getting some new sparks as well.

The shortest wire supplied - Trailing Number 1 [2] Coil/Plug
The second shortest wire   - Trailing [Leading] Number 1 [2]
                                     Coil/Plug
The second longest wire    - Leading Number 2 Coil/Plug
The longest wire           - Leading [Trailing] Number 1 Coil/
                                     Plug

It\'s absolutely chucking it down here so not lifting my bonnet....but loads of info on web and piccys etc.

i know on the FC the coils are clearly marked with trailing and leading

and the housings ... errrrrrr... let me check ...

This is for a FC .. ie NOT yours .. but MIGHT be the same :

Quote1 - I Have Mixed Up The Plug Leads - How Should They Go
This is a common question so here is how I understand it

Trailing - This is the TOP plug
Leading - This is the LOWER plug
1st Rotor - This is the one near the head lights
2nd Rotor - This is the one at the back of the engine ( bulkhead end )

The Trailing Coil this is the one at the rear of the engine ( passenger side ) - bulkhead end

The Leading coil this is the one near the front of the engine ( passenger side ) - near the battery

So from this we get

T1 - Top plug , front rotor
T2 - Top plug , rear rotor
L1 - Lower plug - front rotor
L2 - Lower plug - rear rotor

Hi right ill tell you a few basic things to check,,
No1, has the engine got compresion, remove all spark plugs and crank car listen for front and rear rotor pulses of air (should be a consistent pattern woosh woosh woosh woosh ect). In time , please do this first this is very important for a rotary car. (possibly do a video of this sound while cranking and post).

No2 as someone said above you need to get the correct ignition leads on the correct plugs or you wont get anything, When stood at the passenger wheel looking across the enigne it should be like this ...
"coil on far left"   lead should go to the top left spark plug
"coil on far right" lead should go to the top right spark plug.
"double coil in middle" should go to bottom 2 spark plugs (doesnt matter which way round). Tell me you understand that and have it right.

The last thing to do and again very important to start car up is a very good deflood if the engine is full of fuel it will never ever start trust me.
This is how i do it...
1) remove spark plugs.
2) remove fuse for EGI next to battery (in long rectangle fuse box).
3) crank engine for 10 seconds (fuel vapour will bellow out of spark plugs holes dont be alarmed, leave car for 30 seconds then crank again for 10 seconds.
4) dry spark plugs off, cook them over a gas cooker (thats what i do, burns fuel of electrode)
5) Inject a small amount of engine oil using a plastic syringe in the bottom 2 spark plug holes (2ml of oil in each bottom plug hole should do)
6) get a spanner on alternator nut and wind the engine clockwise for at least 5 full reveloutions of the engine if your not sure just keep winding for a while, this will coat your seals in oil and help with compression (trust me this works)
7) now put spark plugs back in hook up ignition leads (make sure they are correct), replace EGI fuse and try fire it up.

Once its started it will smoke a bit but all should be fine after this.
