As Blitz says, no you shouldn\'t have to. Just becareful with the rubber O-ring between the TB and elbow  if you undo those as that can come apart

Mine wasn\'t metal, looked paper with some impregnated sealant of sorts. It came off a doddle and was very clean and tidy.

As for your rats nest, I could not have told you if any where duff by looking at them. Each hose (at least mine ) appeared to be shaped and quite hard. They may well have gone brittle as mines is a \'92, so that’s 20 years of going hot then cold.

I followed the guidance off a couple of old sites and found that I have load of hose left over, I\'ll measure what I have left to give you a figure of how much you will actually need if it will help save you a few quid should you want to tackle the job.

I have a mix of red and blue hose, the blue still looks mint the red looks mucky in no time at all. Engine is not even back in yet!

As for removing the old hose, if it\'s attached to metal use your long nose pliers to nip hold and twist them so they give, you can pull them straight off. If they are attached to anything else then very carefully with a craft knife cut down the pipe then twist.

Check valves, you should test them by either blowing each way or using a proper pressure testing tool. Luckily I have ShaunWill round the corner to bug so had a testing tool.

When measuring the hose to replace go longer by at least 1/3 if it has a bend, some basically double over. Two I had to sprial and cross so they wouldnt kink.

I had my rats nest laid out in front of me with loom attached, still took a good while to get them all done. When putting it all back on at least 3 where a real pain to get at.

Take pics, lots. I labelled so many but still had a couple of head scratchers due to the fact that the pipes are shaped so make sense when you pull it all apart, fresh hose is perpendicular to the inlet so will help you not a lot.

If you’re going to have a go feel free to bug me while it\'s still fresh in my mind, it\'s not rocket science it\'s just fiddly and frustrating at times.

Also one way valves can be faulty even if they pass the blow test, and be very carefully when pulling off old hoses as if they\'ve gone hard you might snap the ends off the solonoid ,also google rx7 vac hose diagram
