Lets just say I wanted a renesis engine in my FC

What kinda things would be the main issues? I know the fly by wire throttle etc. would it be best to buy a crash damaged rx8 and swap things over or try and source everything separately?

I need to assess all my options really, as I\'d quite like to stay N/A and get a street port, but I need to figure out if the renesis would really be worth the extra cash and hassle really.

no dont do it,  a turbo motor would be cheaper and less hastle. street port it, or even bridge it, you would be looking at more HP with a bridge than a renesis and you get to look cool with the NA brap brap

The thing with a bridge port is the massively reduced engine life which I\'m a bit unsure of

I suggest you call somone like Hayward rotary up, see what his opinion is. You could get a million opinions on here but no one knows what budget you have and no one knows the options as well as someone like Hayward mate.

Reworx have done an FC renesis conversion. The owner was a member on here, used a Motec ECU

reduced engine life?? you arent going to be revving it to 10,000RPM+++ it will last just as long as a street ported engine. plus the engine will be running a lot cooler as you dont have turbos

even a PP will last a long time, hell even monster bridge ports/j ports last a long time. a thread on aus rotary was about a guys monster port and that was running just fine after 5 years hard of rallying.

If you\'re running a standalone just ditch the FBW and fit a normal throttle body - there\'s one off a V6 ford/landy on ours, works just fine. Renesis would :censored::censored::censored::censored: all over a bridge ported \'7 motor for drivability in a road car tbh.

If you rebuild a renesis yourself you can get RX8s for literally buttons at the moment.  If you\'ve got a six port EGI then you could even see if a six port renesis would work with the EGI inlet since they\'re similar.

Although in terms of simplicity then a streetported 13b would be easier.  Unless you found/built a streetported renesis which would be nice and make more power!

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

They are indeed :Santa

I know, as and when it\'s necessary to rebuild mine I\'ll be looking at some porting options.  On the last trackday I was on there was a ported 231 that was chasing my stock 231 down on the straights but didn\'t corner as quick as mine.  That engine in my nailed down chassis would be very interesting!

Just put 210+ down at the hubs on ours again, not too shabby though high-angle/misalignment CV\'s and a 20 year old Renault van gearbox...bit more left yet too, engine still tight so didn\'t take it all the way to the top.

Will66

210+ is a very nice figure.  I\'d be happy getting mine to start going hard from 4000 rpm when the second ports opens, open out the power band a bit.  I\'m guessing from what you\'re using yours for that you\'d appreciate a bit more in the mid-range too.

Yeah, not too bad, there\'s some to come, in a normal RX8 I\'d expect that to be well over 220+ rwhp due to the more efficient drivetrain.
Anyway got some upgrades and tweaks to come in the next couple of weeks to help the midrange, aiming for about 155lbft@4krpm, and perhaps another 10 horsies.

Anyway, there\'s nothing wrong with an N/A renny!
