Cheers Ed .
No more progress yet folks as i\'m still in the queue for the chassis shop . Mine\'s next in line though so hopefully i\'ll get the phone call soon . :cool

how much is the cage going to cost you? and i take it, it will be a custom one off cage? i need one in my car but CANT afford £1500 right now.

600gaz

Depends on what you want and what material .
A top notch multi-point FIA Chrome-molly lightweight tig welded job is £2000 (as found on a pro-mod drag car etc) .
A C.D.S. one that weighs a ton is £800-£1000 and won\'t be as strong or safe .

Next Saturday is the day . Get ready for some serious chassis mods . :Thumbsup!

Couple of pics showing proposed ride height and wheel position . Roll cage is under construction so i\'ll get more more pics later . Custom rear suspension design will have double wishbones , anti-squat geometery , coil overs , turrets , etc etc .

Are you going to be having wheels bars? Think you are definately going to need them

600gaz

Yes mate , the wheelie bars will have too be 4 foot long too stop the rear tyres leaving the tarmac when they hit the floor . He\'s making them so i can unbolt them for street duties .

awesome stuff, i think people will realise that drag racing is just as much about how a car is setup aswell as how much power it produces to good times.

what breaks are you using on this as you havent got a lot of weight to stop but you have got enough power to turn the speedo to triple digits in something so small so quick?

besides the parachute that is:Laugh:Laugh

I\'m using discs all round with standard ford sierra rear discs and aftermarket 275mm front discs with 6 pot calipers .
He\'s making the chassis so that it can corner hard as well as launch hard as i don\'t just want a drag car but an all-rounder . He\'s also leaving room at the rear so that i could run a 3x rotor engine at a later date if i wanted .
All the work will meet FIA euro drag racing regs so it could run in the Street eliminater etc etc if required . Parked next too mine in his workshop is a 3000bhp pro-mod and a 1400bhp pick up truck so mines only a little toy compared to those , lol .
Real fast quarter mile times are about power to weight ratio and traction/set up mostly . The more power you have the more important the set up is or else you just wheelspin . It\'s all interesting stuff when you look into it (well i think so) lol .

Its going to be one mental little motor :D

What\'s the calculated power / weight of it going to be ?

I think it\'s interesting too. What promod is in there? Promod has got to be the most exciting drag class at the mainevents, they\'re getti into the 5 second bracket now which is methanol dragster territory!

Try get a picture of the car up see if I recognise it.

Should be around 880bhp per ton unless Jaydee turns the boost up !!!! :chat

The pro-mod is brand new so never been used yet . It\'s a twin turbo methanol big block V8 and the turbos are as big as footballs and they run 42psi at half track !!!! The rolling chassis is finished so he\'s now making the sheet floorpan for it . I\'ll find you a link with some pics .

Click the above link and have a look under the 1970 Duster pro-mod link . He\'s having it painted up in old skool muscle car colours so it will look the nuts i reckon . Budget is £150,000 for your own one so we best get saving , lol . :chat
