Tyre size for FB

So..

Tyres on the FB are a bit old and looking for some new ones. Currently running the standard 205/60R14\'s.

Looking around the web I cant really find any decent replacements as this is an odd size.

R888\'s come in 205/55R14\'s which are around 20mm lower profile or -3%.

Anyone run 55\'s on their FB? Got any other recommendations for tyres?

I once read that the 205/60/14 was only used on late FB\'s, on the Lotus Excel and on the back wheels of MR2\'s Hence pretty rare now.

I\'m on BF Goodridge Touring which are a very nice street running tyre, almost like the old Dunlop D60\'s that the cars came fitted with. But I got those about 8 years ago.

I\'d worry about steering weight for parking with a lower profile. Or does the tread stay as the same contact patch?

I\'m running on Nexen CP641 205/60R14 I got last year, cost £60 a corner, they seem to be OK alot better than my 15 year old goodyears.

Thanks for the replys, the 55 profile would just lower the gearing by 3%, would probably not change the steering feel.

Seen some falkens online that look OK, not that exciting though

I\'m running 205/45/17 on the rear now to get the speedo right and improve mpg. Not fit them to the front yet , got 205/40/17 on at the minute but the 45 will be getting fitted.

225/35/18 reconfigured the speedo for 30 and 70

Falken ZEIX ZE-512\'s / ZEIX ZE-912\'s get good press and Mytres.co.uk do a 205 60 14 for £67.
 
Proper "summer" tyre though - don\'t expect much grip when it gets cold and wet.... The only thing they seem to be criticised for is that they wear a bit faster than some others - but they still do 15-18 thousand miles (which means on most FB\'s they will perish before they wear out?)
 
I currently have on some Nankang Turbosport 611\'s, which are fine at the moment but unpredictable in the wet and were virtually unusable back in December / January...
