Hello,

I think I may have some problems (with my car).  It is going to the garage now, but I just want to pre-empt what they are going to say.

Recently, my car has struggled to start. Usually, it starts first time but has in the past week or so taken a few cranks to get it going. And since this happened the first time, the engine was very hesitant on acceleration. I put this down to a possible Cat failure, but after getting advice on here, that was changed to possible ignition coil failure and was booked into the garage.

The car is going in the garage today, so just as I start it, it struggles to start for a few minutes, and then fires up. The oil light came on, which is the first time that has ever happened, and the engine had only just been serviced. Stupidly I switch off the engine and try to restart, and the battery goes dead. As I am checking the car, I see that there is a pool of oil under the car literally dripping off the engine.

Is this the end for my car, or is there an explanation out there somewhere?? The garage are taking it away as I speak, but dreading the news.

Cheers

Josh.

If its only just been serviced has someone forgot to torque the drain bolt or the oil filter is loose.......think you have 2 separate problems....oil leak due to mistake.....and misfire due to coilpack, leads or sparks did they change them loose connection?......is it the same garage now working on it as serviced it? ever the sceptic but if its just been serviced has somebody made a mess of it?
Good luck with it....post what the garage state........

Thanks for the reply.

Well, the garage have looked at it, and said....they can\'t fix it. Apparently it needs to go to the main dealer for diagnostics as the misfire is fairly bad. I\'ve booked it in for Monday, but not looking forward to the news. I\'ve also checked and the oil seems to be leaking fairly bad at the front of the car. Could this be the end of my rx??

I think id be going specialist route instead of tuner and i would go back to orig garage if they cant diagnose oil leak???? Is it still dripping oil? Where front middle back ?

Hi,

Apologies, I\'ve been working over the weekend, so have only just seen this. Huge thanks for the offer, I\'m just by the coast outside of Bristol but had already dropped the car off at the dealership on sat morning. To be fair, they seem reasonable enough, just awaiting for the verdict now. On the upside, I have hired an insignia which surprisingly is quite a decent car.

Sounds like what happended to my mates RX8. Stuggled starting. He started by changing the cat (collapsed) which he informed me ended up braking a coil or 2 so they ended up getting changed. I\'ll ask him for the exact details and let you know.
