Hey guys
i just wanted to ask if its possible to loose quite a bit of water due to faulty rad and ast caps?

Ive just flushed all the gunk out as it was over heating a lot before. Now she sits nicely between 84-94 degrees but is more often than anything at the 85 mark. However when i stop and turn off the engine then get back in the low water light comes on. Ive lost just over a mug full of water.

Im always worried the car needs a rebuild but i cant see any symptoms to supporr this such as smoke from exhaust.

Are there any other symtoms of seal failure?

Thanks

You would usually get bubbles in the expansion tank if gasses from the engine are getting into the coolent system which would mean water seal failure (which isn\'t too bad). But what it might be is a leaking AST cap or indeed a cracked AST, the plastic and caps get old and don\'t work as well as they would originally. Its why you see aluminium ASTs being sold as replacements.
