R888 ? More of a track tyre but as I understand, yes, still street legal :)

They\'re still road legal, there\'s talk that they won\'t be but currently you can run them!

There was an article in Evo regarding new legislation which may mean the end to track day tyres by Nov 2012.

The article says new legislation on tyre labelling and accompanying minimum standards to be introduced in November 2012 will effectively end the production of road-legal track day tyres.

Example tyres affected: Dunlop Direzza, Toyo 888, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup and Avon ACB10.

The legislation sets that all road legal tyres will have to display rating figures for rolling resistance, external noise and wet grip... with minimum levels to be met (which is where they think the specialist rubber will be affected).

Found above info on PH,
Think they\'ll be phased out so you cant buy them spoke to my MOTing Mechanic mate and he said the 2 latest guidance notes for MOT\'s had no mention of track tyres.

You can still buy them new ! Think ok for a few years yet!

E mark on the tyre wall and it\'s okay.

They are road legal, but they\'re scary as hell in the rain.
I used to drive on R888\'s daily, and in heavy rain you can feel the car floating away sometimes.

Brett

So where do people stand with tyres already fitted to the vehcile then?

My best guess is that if you\'re driving on the tires now, and the law changes, you\'re basically screwed into buying new tires.

Surley they will still be sold under the loop hole \'not for road/street use\' so you can still buy them as a semi slick.

I guess the government think that people then won\'t fit new ones to cars so they won\'t be on the road. As for the November rule, they think you will have needed replacements by then so will be buying new tyres anyway!

Demon Tweeks got back to me and said they\'d heard nothing about this!

I\'d put on em as long as they\'re e marked.
