Hey guys i need some advice,

I recently replaced a thermostat and water pump gaskets to stop a water leak from under the pump.
i noticed whilst doing the repairs that there was a lot of gunk in the pipes. so i decided to flush the system out.

I had the car running a few times to make sure the seals had taken. Everything went ok so i decided to go ahead with the flush.

I ran the car to temp then drained the water out of the system. Got a lot of the gunk out. Then waited a while and tried again filling the cooling system with water and turned on the engine.

This time i noticed a small leak from underneath the car. I checked the apexi stats and water temp was 35 degrees. So went to investigate the leak. As i was looking the minor leak turned into a major leak and i lost all of the water in the cooling system. Going to turn off the car i looked on the apexi and water temp was 111 degrees.

Why such a difference in a matter of minutes?
Could a pressure build up pop a gasket?

Can anyone point me in the direction of the Engine coolant drain plug?

Cheers

Mike

Air lock in the system, you need to make sure you burp the system and get all the air out and more water in. It can be time consuming but stick with it.

So is this a case of replacing the gaskets again?

Where did you drain the water from? There is a drain plug on the block and a drain plug on the rad, mine had an airlock which made the coolent buzzer go off, it cleared after a bit after all the air was worked out - I have an FC

Mines an fd and i drained the rad as cant find drain on engine block
