Hi Rust,

Slightly off topic, my FD currently reads KPH and I\'m thinking about changing it over. Its also still got the speed limiter on it. Which I\'m not that fussed about any way because I never reach those speeds.

What are you doing about your Rev counter face? Where did you get a replacement?

Steve

hey steve i only got the converter, and gonna solder it to the back of the speedo clock to use the stock clocks i have now.. you should just put a sticker over the (K) and put a little stick to make it say (M) so it says MPH... someone correct me please... maybe im a bit lost..

Ah ok, I took the website off of my converter!

Red wire is 12volts.
Black negative.
Grey is unused on the rx7,insulate it and tuck away.
Green is connected to the speedo plug.
Yellow connects to the wire you cut going into the plug.

A quick how to then...

Disconnect the battery negative.

Remove the speedo dome, unplug and get it out the way.

Get the plug with the speedo wire- Yellow with red tracer.

2nd pin in from the right top row

Strip it out the loom a little and cut it so you have enough to slip on on heatshrink over each wire.
Solder the green wire from the converter to the original wire going to the plug, and the green wire from the converter to the original yellow/red wire out the loom

That heat shrink, slip over the joint and shrink :-)

Next up is the positive and negitive, I take these from the car radio feed or lighter socket(both off the same feed anyway)(seen in the pick below in the yellow sleeving),blue/black wire at the radio is the positive one you want, although I\'ve not taken a pic of that sorry! The negitive is a fatter wire that bolts to the metal frame of the dash.-note you can also find a bolt or point behin the dome for an negative if you prefer.
If your feeling really fancy you can finish the wiring by wrapping the loom back up in cloth tape other wise some good insulation tape.

Last job is to change the kmh print on the clocks to mph-again I never bothered with pics sorry!
Very simple job to do though,
First remove the clocks from the dome-4 screws

Then on the clocks, remove the 4/5 small screws that help hold on the clear protective plastic, then there are 6 tabs need pushing in to take the clear plastic away, your now into the clock faces, use the sticker you should of got with the converter to cover over the kmh to read mph.

Put back together in reverse order, reconnect the plugs and fix dome and trim back in place, reconnect the battery and go for a drive to test.

Your odometer will also now start to read in miles-Note it wont convert what kms are already done to miles ie if your unconverted clocks reading shows 50000 the reading will still be the same after the conversion but continues in miles.

Hope that helps

Rob
