Been fairly busy on the hunt for more parts... decided my knackered old rx4 seats with covers weren\'t going to cut it so invested in some decent pews amongst other items!

Genuine mazda boot lock... at last i have a car that i can actually lock up and not open with a screwdriver!

Probably doubled the metal thickness in the boot plating the lock with this!

Series 6 Mazda RX7 FD chairs... need rails modding but should fit nicely!

Quick trial fit with re cover door cards... should look good i think!

Picked up 4 of these tonight too, mainly for the pair of decent yokos on some of them but they are in pretty good nick, so we\'ll see what happens with them :)

Also managed to get a full set of wheel bolts, a new straight rear bumper and a set of genuine rx4 inertia seat belts, screen wash bottle and the remainder of the internal door wires we were missing for correct operation!

Picked up a spare fuel lid too... will probably try out some designs for the lid but am thinking maybe a japanese flag...

Been part hunting again and got a few more bits and pieces... including a Weber i ve been after...

Holley fuel regulator

Metal king upgraded brake pads

What a bugger they were too fit!

One side took 20 mins to fit, the other side took over and hour and a half!  The larger surface area of the pad combined with 40 year old chatter clips in the caliper meant there just simply wasn\'t enough room!  Patience and a large file saved the day though and the brakes work perfectly now!

Been checking what manifold i need for the weber... its a 45DCOE which i chose over an IDA mainly for two reasons, one its a third of the price of most IDA\'s and two the research i d did suggested it would give better lower down torque and streetabillity.  Im not after an out an out racer so this seemed a good compromise.

Old one off... shows six ports

Gasket only has four ports though... and appears like the other two ports on the block have been sealed?   ???

Tidyed up the under side of the front too and replaced the steering arm bushes with polyurethene items i found in the shed!

Decided to take out and clean up the rear brakes and Axle!!

SSScoupe

Just as well as the rear shoes were non existant almost and the cylinders ceased right up!
Bushes were done for too!

SSScoupe

Prop shaft was cleaned up as well

New Bushes in...

Axle back in...

Much better!!

QuoteOld one off... shows six ports
nah,,its a normal 4 port
the two that are blanked are coolant to manifold crossovers ,, water only ,, and its good that they are blocked
here in WA you wont see freezing conditions and there is little need for them,, and the O ring is prone to fail,, and is an extreme PITA to fix,, particularly on turbo engines

PS  ,, is this on the road now?? getting reports of a new red rx4 in town
( be aware there is another red rx4 coupe i built the engine and set up for (13bt) going around north perth )

also,, your not a po officer either? getting the odd bit of feedback about a po officer with rx4 coupe

SSScoupe

Thanks for the info!  i was wondering bout the ports...

No not an officer, car isn\'t red, and no its not on the road yet :(  Mainly thats down to finance we re getting there slowly!!

Im after an series 2  electronic dizzy actually.... don\'t suppose you have one for sale ??

SSScoupe

Decided i d had enough of my old grill which some previous owner had chopped about...

So when an uncracked complete grill came up for $50 with a free spare front bumper i jumped at it!

Just needs a good clean up and some fresh paint!

Got a choice of red or blue grill emblems now too :)

Decided a working clutch might be useful, and on discovering the master and slave both ceased it was time for some new parts!!  All fitted and bled within an hour... easiest job so far i think!

Then this morning a nice parcel from Rotaryshack California arrived.....  :) :) :)

Very happy with my polished 12A manifold for a Weber 45!  Came with gaskets, carb bolts and some cool free stickers too!!

Trial fit and all looks good .... very pleased!!

Just the fuel tank to clean up and refit with fuel lines now!!

I hope so :)  Just working out my jet sizing now... I ve been recommended by Rotary Shack to use the following:

65f9 idle jets
225 main fuel jet
185 air bleed
f11 emulsion tubes
0 bypass acell pump jet
38 or 40mm venturies

This is based on a 45 Dcoe attached to a 12a bridgy...

Didn\'t even know if this fuel pump was for my car as it didn\'t come fitted and couldn\'t find a place on the underside where it should mount in this housing so....

Decided a decent replacement was the way forward!

And just in case its noisy, a stubbie cooler fits around it nicely ;)

Is that a carter gold or black? How did you pay for that? I need/want one in my car as a pick up pump.

SSScoupe

Its a Carter P4070.  Not sure what you mean by the gold or Black?  I was quoted anything up to $600 aud for this... which is a total rip off!  So good old Australian Ebay had this for $106 plus shipping!  Thats where i got mine from!

Cheapest place i found however was here

I just didnt want to wait for delivery from the USA!

A rather cracked dash revealed after removing the glued down dashmat!

Dash out...

and the rats nest of wires!

Managed to source a good dash with just one crack, which is being filled and repaired.

A load more parts came from the same source...

Including a series 4 RX7 Alternator ( easier to wire in and provides more power) and a series 2 RX7 Distributor.

Blue/grey clock surrounds and a rather unusual carbon fibre look surround which is growing on me :)

Black steering top cover with extra warning lights!

Alternator modified to fit, plus dizzy added.

Quick mock up of the dash with KMH clocks ( originals were in MPH!)
