Up for sale is my beloved RX7, 1996, Twin turbo, Type R (Import)

  First registered in UK = 2004
  Cylinder capacity = 2600cc
  Colour = Chaste white
  Mileage over past few years
  2008 = 49423 miles
  2010 = 49519 miles
  2011 = 51631 miles
  2012 = approx 52000 miles, (Will check when I get home)
  = Only 2500miles in the last 4yrs

  Between 2008 and 2010 the car was stored in a garage on the Isle of Wight where the owner struggled to get it through an MOT due to high emissions.

  I acquired the vehicle on the 30/01/2010 and brought it over to the mainland to be inspected by RX motors in Dorset. This is where various solenoid issues where uncovered and repaired and the car was successfully passed through an MOT on May 5th 2010.

  MOT = till August 15th 2012.
  Tax = Approx 3months (will also check when i get home)

After the MOT was done i started modifying the car as follows.

ECU
16bit Apexi Ecu with FC commander remapped by Reworx to 266BHP at the wheels, approx 320BHP at the fly at a sensible 0.8psi boost.

Wheels
Black 18” stern staggered split rim alloy wheels x 10.5 rear x 9.5 front.

Tyres
Good year rear = 265 x 40 x 18
Goodyear front = 235 x 40 x 18
All with plenty of tread 5 -6 mm

Exhaust
Standard downpipe
Trust de cat pipe
Blitz nur spec cat back exhaust

Suspension
Tien fully adjustable coil-overs with adjustment tool

Stereo
Alpine CD head unit, JVC front component speakers, Vibe rear speakers

Body
Unknown make vented bonnet with black mesh
Aluminium, high level spoiler.
Vanquish front bumper with 99 spec front lights
99 spec rear lights

Engine
Large Front mount intercooler
Large dual core aluminium radiator.
Blitz dual cone filters
Blitz boost gauge
Air pump removed with pulley kit
Battery refitted in boot with low resistance cables.

  Extras
Blitz boost gauge
Mazda speed front and rear strut braces.

Bad bits
Front bumper was professionally re-spayed in chaste white but the rest of the car has developed a slightly cream  colour so you can see a mismatch in colours
Couple of small cracks (5mm) in bumper when fitting
  4 wheel ABS sensor light is on, this happened when the coilover’s where fitted when i damaged the cable on the near side.
  Brake discs are weathered and will need replacing at some point. No issues on MOT, just don’t look great.

Holes left with tape over them from original spoiler either need some bungs fitted or ideally patched and re-sprayed.

I’ve got no history of a rebuild but Rx motors and re-worx have worked on the car and they said it runs well.

  Im currently o the hunt for a compression test house/mobile mechanic to check the compression to confirm the good condition of the engine. Please let me know if you know anyone in the south west (dorset/hampshire)????

I’m looking for £4500 ONO for the car.
  Reason for sale is i work away 6moths a year and just feel it’s a waste leaving it parked outside on the road for all that time

  The car is located in poole, dorset.

Many thanks

Joe

Hi
I am interested this car, I also have a 96 white imported RX7 still twin turbo with many mods..
I am looking for a second RX7 also in white to leave in Marbella where I am at least twice a month..
I would be very interested to hear your compression results
By the way, are there any interior shots?

Hi Michael

Thanks for your inerest, I will try get some interior shots tonight. Its just the standard black suede interior, with the FC controller mounted in the ash tray & the blitz boost controller on the steering wheel cowling. In good condition.

Im on the hunt for a compression test locally, but worst case i can head over to Reworx (portsmouth) friday afternoon.

Your the first person to respond so i will give you first refusal

cheers

Hi Joe
I think a compression test from REWORX to be honest, would be more reputable then some garage not used to RX7s â€" You want to make sure that you get a good reading…
Equally, ones you are at REWORX, may I suggest that you deal with the snapped cable (if that is all it is) and get the ABS light to go off..
You are selling the car without a documented rebuild so a good compression is essential for some one interested in the car or I or anyone else will have to factor in 3.5k - 4k for the rebuild…..
Is there any rips in the interior like the driver’s seat?
Looking forward to the compression results…

Sure thing Michael, Ill book it in Friday with reworx if they have free time. This will give an official print out. The interior has no rips or damage but let me check it over later to be sure. Ill let you know if there\'s any kind of wear or tear.

Also if you know the guys down at reworx you can get their opinion once they\'ve checked out the car before/or if you decide to make the trip down to view the car.

cheers

Hi

OK, when you are at REWORKS could can ask the following questions?( unless you are able to answer)
1)   Has the A/C been removed?  If it has, to what extend?  Do you have the parts?
2)   Does the mid pipe have a silencer?  Any idea how old is it?
3)   The cracks on the bumper are on the bumper or the paint work?
Regards,
Michaelb

No probs

I can answer these questions

1) AC has been removed, Just the A/C radiator has been cut out to make room for the FMIC large inter-cooler (will take photos)
2) The mid pipe does not have a silencer - so pretty loud with the nur spec back box
3) And the small cracks are just on the fibre glass bumper not the wings or body work (will also take photos)

The body work is in great condition with no car park dings or rust. Ive also got the original bonnet if required.

The front bumper was sprayed in the chaste white but i should have got it colour matched to the body as on a sunny day you can see a slight mis match in colour.

oh, and the mid pipe was second hand from another forum member, so no idea how old it is but its rust free and in good condition.

Good results on pressure test

Front rotor = 7.1, 6.9, 7.1
Rear rotor = 6.9, 6.8, 6.9

recorded at 2500rpm

Test was performed at reworx by chris
