Hi folx! :)

We are 5 RX7 enthusiasts from Norway thinking about a trip to the UK just to... go somewhere :)

The plan is still in the making as of now, so much to plan and cash to set aside :)
The idea is to start somewhere south in U.K, like Wales as we hear the landscape there is awesome!
Then travel East towards London(but not TO london), then turn north, and drive to the tip of Scotland, then ferry over to Ireland, drive around Ireland, and ferry to Isle of man for a speed-run around the main road there, as we hear there are no speed limits there on the road going around the island :2eek

Along the way, we want to stop to see things, visit local pubs and stay at small cozy inns during the nights. No speed-run at all, if it takes 7 days, it takes 7 days, and if it takes 10 days, it takes 10 days :)

Now as you have the route loosely set, what do you recommend we see? What roads do you recommend we try?
Where do you recommend we go?
Do you have a good rotary community in the U.K?`Any chance of small meet-ups around the british isles?
In case of problems, are there any rotary shops around?(Ps. we will bring a bunch of spare parts and tools, as we are all skilled mechanics after years of rotary ownership :p )  if so, who and located where?
Is the community willing to help out in case something happens, like if a car totally dies beyond repair, and let us leave a car there until we get a car and trailer?
It would be really nice to know that in case shiet hits the fan, we can call out to the forum and get some help :Thumbsup!

Now, pick your brains people, we need some ideas and tips fdor this trip :)

thanks in advance :)

Øyvind

Planning on starting in Wales? Where are you planning on getting a ferry into? I would suggest Harwich from Holland, head towards the South East coast (Southend-on-Sea, where I\'m from) and then onwards and North from there. Southends awesome in the summer ;)  If you have issues in the midlands area Id be happy to help if needed. I\'m on an RAF camp so car storage isn\'t a problem either.

Hehe, that would be a problem, buddy ;)  RX aint got room for that ;) My 20B stays in my cosmo ;)   Wich, by the way, happens to be a C-block, one of the good engines ;)

Beer is also less than £2.50 a can as well - although you wouldn\'t drink and drive!

Hi Øyvind,

Wow it would be great if you do this and you can come when one of our own Rotary events is on /

Spring Rotorshow @ Brooklands 21st April or Rotorstock @ Santa Pod 18th August

Even if you don\'t but still come over, tell us and i\'m sure that people will meet with you along the way :Thumbs-up
All the best Clive

if you come up as far as the north east of scotland (aberdeen) there is a couple of rx7 owners up here and you can get ferries but im not sure about ireland, we would be glad to have you\'s and i work in a garage so you could store your car in the yard if the unthinkabe happens

senodlo

To be honest, none of these events are worth coming to ,Spring Rotorshow @ Brooklands 21st April or Rotorstock @ Santa Pod 18th August.......:Typing.The one is a static show (with boring cars) and the other has been incorporated into a bigger event (you wont find the Rotary cars),the rotary only show has gone away from being spectacular.
I would suggest you come over for the European Drag Champs 6-9 April. You will see some good Rotary racing cars, meet the racers and have a good time.:cool

TiddlesRX7

Are you mad? Rotorstock is the biggest European gathering of rotary engined cars is it not?
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

nope, there is a reason why its merged with another show? it was pretty quiet this year, jap show finale i think there was a total may be 4 cars on the stand
