Well the saga has finally come to an end i shall post photos in a few days as to what and where but basically ....

My fd had an intermitant  indicator fault and i have been trying to fix it for the past two to three months yes an i deal with electronics everyday :3Confused

i had been thinking after they completely stopped working that it was the f110 relay and managed to source a spare for MIR . plugged it in replaced the fuse and Panic shed loads of smoke after trying to indicate .
i promptly papped myself and pulled the f110 relay out the thing was completly fried and melted.

now i was lost so the car was taken to a friends house where myself and him ( bmw mechanic ) decided to try and find the issiue.
we completely stripped the front wings ,nose cone ,dash, relays, fuses everything it looks like im braking my car. we traced every inch of cable and no cuts or snags to be found anywhere .
weird!! so after some tea and puzzeled looks we found all the info and diagrams for the f110 relay via the internet and started testing with a multimeter .  everything seemed normal so even more confussed i had my old f110 relay and the fried one from MIR sent off to be tested .
turns out inside the relay theres a power bar that loops from one side of the board to the other and this dry wobbling solder joint was the problem he resoldered the bar and glued it in place to stop vibrations and its perfect indicators work a treat .

So sorry MIR but the f110 relay you sold me has been tested faulty and the relay was stuck causing the heat/melting so ill need a refund on the moneys please bud.

secondly while everything was out ive managed to get the dash flocked and the second binnacle removed  so ill post some pics when its back in tomoz .

more pics of what to look for in the f110 to come later too so if you have the same fault you dont end up making your car look like an airfix model like mine
 :cheers

Hi Mate

I am glad your car is fully functional now :Thumbs-up. I am surprised that you found the relay faulty (something must be wrong with the testing machine or the relay might have been installed wrongly i.e. one or the other). It was sent to you in a fully working order and condition, I took it out from my car. :driving so i know it was working fine. Above all, I posted that relay to you without getting paid first (No body does that in the real world, especially when they are not kown to each other at a trusting level). "I" actually suggested to you that, I will post the relay to you first, after you are satisfied with it, then send me the money, didn\'t I mate?

I remember getting paid for this relay after a month or so of posting. So, you had plenty of time to check it, before paying me for it.

I am only defending this point as a matter of principal

Recently, I sold a part to someone here, he informed me after 3 days that it was faulty, I refunded him the money on the same day. I hate to be coned and I will never sell a faulty part. I have been sold faulty parts and I know the feeling so believe me, I will never do that to my fellow rotary owner.

It\'s the reputation which is worth everything to me.

Sorry Mate, I am unable to refund the money, as you have not established that I have sold you the faulty part.

Cheers
Mir

1. I can\'t install it the wrong way the plugs only go in one way .
2. The tester has had 35 years of electro board engineering and I think he\'s not faulty .
3. If my car was to blame then why did it all work straight away with the bar resoldered on the original unit no fires / smoke or fuses blowing .
4. You sent me the relay and I put it in within a couple of days and it melted I sent you the money because I am honest enough to honour a verble contract thinking it was the car at fault not your part after testing checking and fixing mine the only thing left was a faulty part as its now fine !

To be honest I didn\'t think it would go anywhere anyway didn\'t really expect the money back just thought I\'d see
You did say you had a spare not the one from your car !

But what ever just another lesson learned

And if you like I can send you it back ill pay again of course so you can see for yourself that the damage in the box is where the relay melted .

I\'m just happy I pulled the faulty part out before it burned the car out !

Mate, i think both of us learnt a lesson. I am the sort of person who cares for a verbal contract more than anyone. I wish you had sent me an email instead.

Email me and we can talk about this. My email is

This thread was posted shortly after receiving your relay look at the date but there
Was no point in sending an email before . Because I wasn\'t sure of the facts . I\'m not one to point the finger until I had proof it wasn\'t the car at fault !:censored:

eh!!! why put it on an open forum if didn\'t want it discussed!?

I have met Syed and he is a very honest and upfront person and very generous, plus he pays for full membership of this club, you have been on this club Batman for a few years now and you have never paid for full membership but yet you feel the need to berate A.Tapos a full member for offering up an opinion in a club he pays to be part of. I just don\'t get it tbh

Good evening,

This is a discussion forum provided by the club; if you post a thread people will start to discuss things!

Given that you seem to have all of Syed\'s contact details already I\'m going to lock this thread and you can discuss it privately with him.

Kind regards,

Brett
