What paint did you use on it ?

Cheers Prof :Thumbs-up

The ali on the diff I sanded by hand as best I could and primed and painted with plasticote.  I used this as I know people have used it on cam covers to good effect so hopefully it will be fine.  The steel side I got it as clean as I could and brushed black hammerite on - it may be better to get some of that \'por15\' stuff (I cant remember if thats the name, but I know you said you where going to use it for your new project :) )

I\'m off to a motorfactors soon as im building up a list of things I need now like brake pads, engine, diff & gearbox oil :)

I thought FD and FC diffs were different sizes?

It always suprised me how much the lubes end up costing, and things like brakes and tyres - but it\'s not worth skimping.  I\'ve no idea how much the diff takes, but I used the best part of 3 of the standard size bottles to fill a gearbox up !

Cheers :guinness  Although as always it looks far batter in pictures than it does in reality!!

Cant wait for the garage to get finished so I can get it down there and get stuck into the bodywork too :)

I never even looked at the date, cant believe it has been that long! I think the main reason is there is always something better that needs doing (coupled with the fact that once it was ready it would start to cost even more!! fuel, tax, mot\'s etc! :o )

Yeah and every time you go to get a load you cant believe how much more they cost than last time!!

I need to have a look at the manual to see what grades of oil I need and how much - almost sounds like I am getting ready to turn the key and see what blows up.......I mean happens! :Hammer  its still a way away from where it needs to be.

Bodywork for one - it has the flakey paint syndrome.  Maybe I should get it on the road without a respray with it looking a little ratty, everytime it goes above 50 the paint will peel off and make it look like its snowing! :rollin

The gearbox was filled up by using the patented \'mitch isn\'t silly, he is going to pipe it via a tube through the engine bay to the gearbox and not try and squish a bottle under the car\' method

Yeah, only moved a few miles away.  Not in the sticks now and closer to civilisation!  It has cut the journey to Pod and Silverstone down by a few minutes!! :chat

Im going to see if I can find some of the photos I was lacking now.....

Ricco_04

Ok so stripped the old suspension down, cleaned it all up with a shotblaster & got it all painted.

Ordered some brake lines, flare kit & fittings (also a small pipe bender but it was rubbish!).  Redone all the brake lines under the car, last 2 lines to do where these :

Got the subframe and all the gubbins powdercoaded (some where painted instead)

And fitted :

Engine bay was looking like this :

And was lacking this (not fully built in this picture!)

so to rectify the situation I ended up buying this :

There is a bit more done than that but the other photos are on my phone (engine is in and mated up to box aswell)

Thanks for looking :wave

B.Martin

Awesome stuff dude, good job on the painted stuff :D

Thought I would stop by this olllldddddddddd post and say hi!! :chat

So another year gone by since the last update but im pleased to say the engine bay is 99% done.  Engine & oil are in etc.  I have transported the car to my garage (as it was at my parents house before) and it now sits next to my FD (Which is now up on stands while I decide what to do with her :()

To get it transported ment getting it rolling so thats all done too! In fact I slung the battery on from the FD today just to see what happens, fully expecting a fuse or 2 to pop :evillaugh  I was very surprised to test loads of items out and they where all working (all washer motors, both wiper motors, interior lights, dash lights, sunroof motor (although rood was stuck in place) starter motor and some other things)

So was quite excited to see it hadn\'t given up yet :chat

Going to fill her up with coolant & stick in some fuel, check for leaks and try firing her up :)

Still exterior bodywork to do and the inevitable fault finding but just wanted to say in happy!! :driving

Prof

I\'m loving your work !

This is going to be such a clean car when it\'s all done. :cheers
