im pretty sure brett ran one at more than 0.9 bar on a stock ecu with no issues?

For the water in the boot, is it in the spare wheel well ?
 
If so, there is a rubber bung at the bottom - accessible from under the car, removing that temporarily will let the water drain out.  It\'s probably coming in from the hood pockets or somewhere on the roof.
