i made this thread to see if anyone thought it was a good idea or not,
the alfs 10v turbo lumps are fairly bullet proof, mostly the intake pipes that brake and have good power.

aside from buying the car and the doner car i can do alot of fabricating my only concer would be a gearbox???? e.g. al;fas are front wheel drive front engine, where the rx is front engine rwd and the box wouldnt swap over,

2 mpg? What are you smoking?

secont of all i havent had my current car mapped as i couldnt be assed as the car was coming off the road 6 months after i bought it and wasnt worth spending the money on a map when it would be a useless map when the car comes back out of the garage. (cant be assed to get into details as to why rear my other posts to find out why.)

Wouldn\'t you mount it at 90 deg to the original layout and make an adapter between the engine and the original gearbox ? Also depends how short the gearbox is too. A diesel would only rev to 4k wouldn\'t it ?

If you were to use the original gearbox wouldn\'t it be under serious stress from a turbo diesel\'s torque?  You\'d need a different final drive too otherwise you\'d run out of revs at 80 or so in top.

If you could get it to fit, would a transit turbo diesel be worth looking at?  Right layout, bullet proof in terms of reliability and you could tweak the power up quite nicely by playing about with the fuel pump and turbo and you can probably get the drivetrain for buttons.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Yes our old transit Luton used to drift in the wet, awesome times. However it wasn\'t very reliable I didn\'t think! But then eveyone else I speak to goes on about the transit engine being reliable, perhaps we just a had a crap one.

re japi

New BMW Diesel would be awesome. But it would be expensive. And electrics would be difficult... But how about old one...?
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

yer the prob is i have alfa parts at free axcess. but after mesuring one hight wise i dont think it will easly fit due to the shape of the sump, yer i couldnt use the stock box due to the revs as it would only do like a max of 80 mph at about 4k in 5th., yer pug ones are the best they come in loads of cars.
