Hi All,

I\'m thinking of buying my \'89 Convertible back, but apparently she now has clutch issues!

Pedal goes straight to the floor now, no fluid leak though, and was apparently ok the day before. Anyone had something similar, and could possibly advise of what this might be, and how much to fix?!   Slave cylinder possibly?

Cheers,

Mark

Brett

IT\'S usually the master cylinder, fairly simple to replace :)

check for leaks around both the slave and the master

i rebuilt the master on mine .. think it was about £20 for the kit , and i stuck on a braided line for good measure whilst it was apart

sounds more like master, when i got mine it came with spare ones but i didnt put them on at first then i niticed the fluid went down over long time took the master off and sure enough there was a slight leak but at the bottom so you didnt notice it. cant comment on price as my car came with them but they were very easy to replace.

I rebuilt my master - if the vendors on here don\'t have the kits - WGT does.

Hi All,

Many thanks for your replies on this, much appreciated!  Sounds like a relatively easy fix. The stumbling block is going to be getting her back to Cambridge from Sussex as she is, has anyone any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Stu,

Yes but only to cover my MR2 at present. As I don\'t own the RX7 (yet!) don\'t think I can go down that route. I\'m now kind of going off the idea of the Mazda but only as it\'s gonna be tricky getting her back here.  She has been stood for a while so also won\'t start at present:-(

A good diagnostic test, which I recently did on my RX-7 1st Gen with a clutch problem, was to clamp the flexible pipe running to the slave cylinder with a mole grip. Press the clutch pedal and if you have pressure you know the master side is OK. If the pedal still goes to the floor then it\'ll be the master....
