Guys, I was helping a friend with his fd yesterday. Whilst we were working on his car, God knows what happened to us :D :D :D and we decided to compression test both of our FD\'s.

Check the link and tell me what you guys think of a compression-Good, Bad or the UGLY lollll;)

I think this is my Fd\'s compression test but I am not sure as he sent me this video but never mentioned whose FD was it. So, if its good then its my Fd, but if its not, then its his Fd\'s compression test.:rollin

have i missed something? where are the numbers? you cant comp test by listening to it!
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Well at least you can listen to the continuity of the "Pus Pus" :Giggle:Giggle. I heard a specialist can assess the car\'s compression by simply "listening" to it and please dont tell me that its not true because one specialist told me that-BTW it was not Pip :Giggle:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle. So in your opinion, how does that compression sound?

you can tell if it has compression on all chambers but that is very different to saying what the compression is like.  Its very dependent on lots of things like engine temp, battery and starter power, engine speed and if the engine has been stood for any time.

That sounds like one chamber only of a 13b to me. Can\'t say how good the compression is though.
What plugs were taken out?
We warranty our rebuilt engines for Detonation, track day\'s and RWYB and NOW for 30 months which is two and half years or 30,000 miles
We also build all types of race or road engines.
We build race and track cars too.
Any kind of porting undertaken.
Single turbo conversions.

You can only tell if the pulses are even or not - certainly won\'t get a poor / passable / good / excellent compression out of just listening.

A proper tester is needed, and you\'ll want details of the conditions used for the test:

  • Battery Condition ?
  • Cranking speed ?
  • Throttle open ?
  • Only bottom plugs removed and tester in one of them ?
  • Engine warmed up before hand ?
  • Lubrication good ?
  • Cranked for long enough to stabilize cranking RPM ?
  • and finally - but somewhat less of an issue here in the UK - altitude where the test was performed ?

Carl 7420 were taken out and the car was driven hard before we did that test. Yes it was only one chamber i.e. compression test of one housing..

To me the compression "pus pus" was even but you guys would know better. :)

No not yet Carl. I have been busy lately due to work and stuff. But I will talk to him soon. May delay the project a bit as having domestic issues at the moment.
