Looking for a single turbo for my 13b MX5 swap.

I\'m running a 13b engine from a import FC RX7 (s4 engine?)

Hoping to get a T4 turbo manifold for it from a s5 engine and find a turbo to fit this.

The turbo must be relatively small but be able to produce 350 ish bhp?

Space is a big issue for me!

Any help at all?

I also want the turbo to be able to spool up quick, not really up for mega turbo lag!

i\'ll be running an apexi power FC for management :D

Cheers

Dan

The S5 engine has the same turbo manifold, its not a T4, the turbo is large for piston standards, but quite small for rotary standard, most is about 300bhp at 0.9bar, Spooling isn\'t an issue on a rotary, its got loads of exhaust gasses so can spool \'large\' turbos with ease, most upgraded turbos are T04s, should give you the power you want.

I have a T4 manifold for an FC btw :)

This is an OEM turbo:

Size comparison - T88 (currently for sale) on the left, OEM in the middle, OEM T25 turbo (this is from a 300zx)

here is Speedline import\'s MX7 build:

Here is my spare T4 manifold:

ahh, sorry i\'m still learning!

I was hoping to use the standard manifold?

What turbo would you suggest? I want to keep the turbo position stock , not like the mx7 build.

You could build a hybrid turbo using the OEM hot side and bolting on a larger compressor housing - give Prof a PM about that, hes making good power

Hi, im running a t04e (not sure which trim) but got 374bhp on ported engine running 1bar with more to give.
.89 hot side i believe or was it .91 sth like that (is small). boost early and had more puff to give even at 6 /7 k rpm.

judging by ur power wants i\'d say go similar spec.
hth :)

Will the t04e turbo bolt onto the standard manifold yeh?

Liam, your turbo sounds ideal! :)

I\'ll keep an eye out for one

No, it won\'t bolt up to an OEM manifold, its a different stud pattern! You need a T4 manifold to run a T4 turbo!

as above. i have a xs power one somewhere with my mechanic i dont need.
its moves the tub forward a little though.

Sorry, complete newbie here! :P

I think i\'ll go for the T04E turbo and have a custom manifold made, I doubt an aftermarket manifold will fit, space is really tight.

Thanks guys.
