For those that didnt know.....me and jetpilot had a running Vale v Casey battle on here for the last 3 years.

I havent frequented here in a long time...........not just because of not having time, but also because i just lost faith with the "japanese scene".

Either way, today i MUST post..........Marco Simoncelli was a breath of fresh air to the Moto GP class, and the main reason i watched it this year after Vale couldnt get to grips with the Ducati.

Watching at 9:05 am this morning, i witnessed Marco Simoncelli\'s crash helmet roll across the track after being run over by his best mate Valetino rossi.

Truly horrific scenes, and Marco died from his injuries at 9:56am this morning.

You WILL see Vale retire, and we have lost the next charismatic moto gp champion in a truly horrific scenario.

RIP Marco....you were brilliant.
Turned into the worst part of my life....my precious fd3 has gone, but never forgotten....roll on a new life!!!!

Definatly a future champion in the making. I cant believe he`s gone

He was an inspiration. A real character with mad hair and a mad riding style. Part of the reason to watch the amazing racing in MotoGP.

Such a loss.

A terrible loss and has upset me more than I thought it would. However talking with my dad and wondering why his helmet came off can only come down to him having a helmet that wasn\'t sat right because of his awesome hair.

2 x 250cc world champion. Would have been world champion in motoGP after successfully gaining his first 2nd place just last week in Australia.

I hope Valle and Edwards are ok after being part of something so horrific.

RIP Simoncelli (side show bob)

Terrible, I haven\'t actually seen it as I heard the news before getting chance to watch the race and it seems ghoulish to watch now knowing what happened.

Dan, I hope you\'re wrong about Vale retiring (or Colin for that matter), but it would be understandable if either did.

Marco came across as such a nice guy and he was a real talent, one of the main reasons to watch the racing this year. A huge loss to the sport and I imagine a man that had many many friends and family who will miss him greatly. I trust there will be a fitting tribute from the MotoGP family at the next race and I for one will shed a tear.

RIP no. 58.

R.i.P., Little Big Champion...

Today here in Italy we were all shocked... Everyone Loved Marco, "Super Sic", he was a great driver and a great person...

I think that Vale is now very shoocked but I hope he will continue to ride and keep winning to honour Marco\'s Memory

I seen this crash this morning and feel for all involved , I loved the way he rode , he tried so hard every race and even with all the pressure that most people can\'t imagine still went out and rode the only way he knew FLAT OUT . I hope it does not effect Rossi and Colin to badly , but you can not blame them for any decisions they make !! RIP Marco

re japi

I did heard about it. I didnt see it...

Unfortunatly, these kind of things will happen in motorsports...

Ya, i think he would be future champion...

I Don\'t really think his helmet came off due to his hair. There are video\'s and pictures from different angles and you can see Edwards hitting him in the back and Valentino hitting him near the neck/helmet. I can imagine the impact could have been enough to snap the safety lock or strap.

nevertheless... horrific accident and a sad sad loss..

In the many years i have watched top level bike racing, superbike and moto gp i could count the number of deaths on one hand, unsurprisingly they pretty much all were head injuries!

Im missed the accident and pretty pleased i did, i havent searched to see it and nor do i want to, so cannot offer any opinion on the loss of his helmet, i would imagine comments bounding around all the forums of his hair is just an easy opinion to offer as an explanation!

As Dan mentioned we have always had lots of banter and my following comment is in no way or means to introduce that into a thread about Super Sic, but i dont think Rossi will retire (another thread for that one) but wouldnt surprise me if Edwards does. I would also add, i hope Rossi doesnt retire because of his friendship with Super Sic, i am sure he knows the risks involved and would assume all top riders are aware of the potential of serious injury when riding on the absolute edge with 16 or more other riders. I would be more inclined to think he would ride next year in honour of SS perhaps wearing his number as tribute!

He died doing something he loved and was his life and i am hoping he probably didnt know a lot about it! R.I.P

My thoughts go out now to his family and friends, everyone involved with MotoGp and his fans!
