I can\'t believe Nik da got banned.........would be laughable if it wasn\'t quite so insulting to the members of this club.

Nik da\'s a damn good guy and this is the club\'s loss.....anti the club indeed-how many times did Nik da fail to turn up to shows in support of the club exactly?  I don\'t believe anyone has made the effort to turn out to more!!! :Nono!

Nick got banned and a few ppl are up in arms complaining about it.

Consider this, MRC is run by a team consisting of Chairman, President and a number of volunteer moderators. They undertake to run this club and forum to the best of their ability in the way set out in the club’s T&C’s.

Their goal is to have an enjoyable pleasant place for like-minded petrol heads to meet chat and discuss their cars, projects etc. carried out within the rules set out in said T&C’s.

There are occasions when members/guests report things to the team who have to evaluate all complaints and come to decisions regarding the complaints received.

There comes a point when they reach the decision that all avenues have been expended and the only course left is a ban.

Like it or not I am sure that these decisions are not taken lightly.

Do you think it was personal, or on a whim, ‘lets just ban him for a laugh’? I think not.

Now the decision has been made I suggest that it’s just accepted because no amount of moaning will reverse the teams ruling.

I’ve been on the end of a vindictive attack from this great guy wishing me an aneurysm, nice, for which he apologised to me at RS which I accepted.

So don’t tell me he’s all sweetness and light.

I haven’t attacked you views of Nick, we each have our own so don’t have a go at me for mine.

I’m not entering into any discussion regarding this – it’s done move on……….

I have absolutely no desire to have a go at you, or anyone else for that matter, John-I don\'t know you. Your views are your views and I can respect that.

I would like to clear up one untruth in ur reply to my post though. Nik did not "wish you an aneurysm". Whilst discussing a subject on FDUK (NOT this forum incidentally), nik simply said that a certain topic being discussed would cause you an aneurysm. I know this is a sensitive subject for you, I was genuinely sorry to hear of your loss, but come on John, had he said blimey that\'ll give him a fit or that\'ll have him screaming blue murder, which would have been in exactly the same sentiment, would there have been quite so much fuss and a whole thread posted by you telling all members of this forum what a terrible man Nik is whilst he was in no position to reply? You do seem determined to make Nik sound malicious and he just isn\'t.

Anyway, I\'ve read the rest of your post and I didn\'t really like it, but then it\'s just words on a page isn\'t it and doesn\'t, in all honesty, affect my life in any way. I feel the truth should be presented which I have fulfilled in my reply, anything else I am happy to agree to disagree on!

As an animal lover I think some of his suggestions in this thread are well beyond what is tasteful and called for whether meant in jest or not.  I appreciate he probably didn\'t mean it and almost certainly did it to generate a reaction but that\'s no reason to suggest "cleansing it with fire" or to "blow the little sucker\'s head off with a double barrelled shotgun" is something that should ever be suggested.

That\'s the problem, what Will66 finds offensive is not offensive to Jojo.  On any one of Nik\'s reported posts we could probably find people with opposing views.  But please remember the volume of reported posts by many different people and the final warning issued before the final action was taken.

Guys! I would say learn to respect the diversity of the people! The day we begin to think positively, the world will become a better place to live. People complaining about animal cruelty, loos mouth etc etc! Well if you diversify yourself, these things would look no more than a personal statement.
 
I love dogs and I have two!! when he made that statement of shooting a dog in the head, I just laugh at that! Not because I approved the statement, because I thouught in Law he is entitle to his opinion so who am I to object to that (See Art 10 of ECHR 1998).
 
Come-on this is someone\'s diversity and thats how that person is! YOU CANT OBJECT ON SOMEONE\'S DIVERSITY, ITS AGAINST THE LAW. Even in Law, The diversity of the real life offenders must be respected (Sec 217 of CJA 2003)
 
I can say so much but, I think "I CAN NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF DENIAL" so no matter what I say, NO will be THE ULITIMATE answer!
 
One last thing, which I am sure many of you would like to know, when a Diversity should not be respected? The simple and legal answer is "WHEN IT GOES AGAINST THE WILL OF LAW" the good example would be "the constitution of BNP, Who were instructed to amend it as it did not comply with conventions and British Rules"
 
I can understand that Nik may have been out of order sometimes, but it does not mean that he overstepped the boundry of the Law, otherwise you guys would have reported him to the police.
 
I can understand that MRC needs to protect its reputation and its members but, at the same token, MRC should have taken a different stance in order to bring Nik\'s communication according to the Club\'s rules. The managable steps would have been, reviewing his posts before they get published, this way Nik would have learnt to write according to the MRC will and policies and if he didn\'t like it, he would have been than welcome to leave the Club!
 
Clive, Kev, No disrespect, but I seriously believe that you guys could have resolved this matter otherwise and to me, this punishment is disproposionate and reflects IPP! (Which is soon going to be changed by the government).
 
Nik has a good case to argue as I dont believe that his diversity has been respected hence; I humbly request to the responsible reader of this post, to remove the life time ban and replace it with a 6 months to a year ban

Wow - it\'s a bit early for a legal debate but what the hell.

No one is claiming that anyone has done anything illegal - as you say if they had we could simply report them to the police. But when a like minded group of people get together and form a Club they can set whatever rules and standards they want. They can be completely prejudice against whoever they like - it\'s a Club, not a political party.

When you join the Club you are choosing to accept the rules, standards etc Now I think MRC is very fair but we do not have to be - we can ban someone without any reason or justification if we choose.

You talk about Moderating posts and that is a valid point which we did discuss but it just won\'t work in practice. It would need at least three of the Moderating Team to review and agree on a contentious post and that would take several hours by which time the thread will probably have moved on.

As for a review of Niks ban - if Nik requested it and presented his case with assurances over future conduct of course we would consider it. I\'m not saying we would agree to lift it as that is not my decision to make but other people have received bans and they have asked us to reconsider and we have. But that is up to Nik.
