I know my egi killed me @ 19, i\'m sure if my T2 was driven daily that it would kill me also. I\'m suprised your insurance is so high on crappy cars though, don\'t you all have any NCB? I was only paying £450 on my GTI, can you get a dual car policy and use the NCB for 2 cars?

I haven\'t found any dual car policy\'s...

Who did you use? All my NCB is (obviously) on the RX7, otherwise it\'d be a ridiculous price, which means a second policy costs lots. A dual policy could be good, and would mean that I might keep the rex...

Well my car will be at various santapod meets when its fully built up etc and I know Santapod allow passengers now :D

Try and see if they will insure the rx7 on a limited milage classic policy, although I have been waiting a while to be in the correct age bracket to get classic car insurance, hopefully will be there next year :D

I already know they won\'t, you need to be 25+ to insure something as powerful as an RX7 on a classic policy.

B.Martin

Well hopefully by the time I\'m back in the uk with the FC I\'ll be 25! I\'m not sure who does the dual car policies but I know you can get them, my insurance for last 2 years (in uk) was Adrian flux. It\'s worth calling them I really rate them.

ali303

Adrian Flux will offer me a dual car policy but not until I\'m 21.

The car I\'ve been using over the last few weeks has been my sister\'s which, seeing as she\'s away at uni now, I tried to get insured on under my own name so I could SORN/sell the FC and massively reduce my premium and still get my year\'s NCB. As the car isn\'t registered in my name I can\'t do that, so my premium and NCB is all centred around the FC.

In other words, I need to replace it with something else that I can insure under my own name. I would love to keep the FC as a weekend toy or whatnot, but paying the insurance price I am at the moment would make it a stupid idea. I\'d much rather be paying that much for something awesome I can use every day to be honest :/

B.Martin

If your under 21 I\'m not surprised your struggling with the running, insurance and tax costs. The RX-7 is not a cheap car to keep/live with unfortunately. I can only afford one now as I have a daily driver which is paid for completely by my company and the FC is purely a werken/enjoyment car. I have the upmost respect for all your guys that use your T2\'s as daily drivers, bit unless your on a really good wage it\'s not easy. I mean I\'m full on pikeying it with mine, insurance here is €450 per year and that is expensive for Cyprus! If I was over 25 it would cost me less than half that, my car is on English plates so I am not allowed to tax it! Even if I was it would be classed as 1308cc here in Cyprus and fuel is about €1.25 for 98 ron fuel. If I were in England right now I\'d have to totally re-asses my situation with the FC, running one on a tight budget even as a weekend or good weather car under the age of 25 is tough. Hope you fond a way to sort it out, if you just want a cheap drifter your best looking at mx-5\'s or BMW\'s, or of course s13\'s.

ali303

It\'s not the tax and insurance costs that annoy me to be honest, I can live with them as (for a 20 year old at least) my job is pretty well paid. It\'s just the petrol that bothers me...everywhere I went it was in the back of my mind and every time I got asked to go to the pub or to I went to see my girlfriend it\'d cost me £5/10 a time...it just isn\'t worth it :(

B.Martin

You need a daily driver mate, simple as. Can\'t you get something wank and cheap and register ir in a parents name with you as a named driver?

I already have a daily that\'s registered in my parent\'s name and it\'s what I\'ve been using for the last few weeks. My issue is that I don\'t see the point in spending so much money on keeping the FC only to use it once or twice a week at most (as is being proposed). I would much rather just have the one nice car that I can use pretty much all the time to be honest.

It\'s like spending a fortune on a massive TV only to spend the majority of your time watching a tiny monitor. If you\'ve spent a lot of money on something, you\'d want to get as much use out of it as possible, it\'s only natural!

Although I guess one option is to SORN it over the winter, get a pretty nice and slightly speedy daily in the meantime and then get the FC ready for mega pimping once it\'s sunny again...! By that time I\'ll be 21 so might be able to find a half decent classics policy, and at least I\'ll have something nice for daily driving too (at the moment I\'m using a Punto which is literally the gayest thing ever).

B.Martin

I see your point, but as i said said before. An FC is certianly not an ideal daily driver on any kind of budget, i don\'t have to worry about the weather though and make sure i drive the FC at a minimum of once a week!

TiddlesRX7

How come you can\'t get classic cover for it untill your 21? It don\'t make sense to me. The car is either old enough to qualify or not surely I can\'t see why your age matters.

I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Because the copmpanies realise that the RX-7 although a classic, is a bit of an aminal and see under 21 year olds with RX-7\'s as a bit of a risk i suppose. I have to admit, i can kind of see their point in some cases :Giggle

TiddlesRX7

Still makes no sense. Surely they\'ll just say sorry but no we can\'t do it. Not we can\'t do it on a classic policy but we can rape you on a regular one if you like.
