How can you tell 231 bhp model to the 190bhp ?

hey guys im new to the mrc .. i joined to get sum info on Rx8\'s just was wondering has anyone any advice on how to go about buying one and what to look out for .. my question is how can you tell the differance to a 231bhp model to a 190bhp is there any cosmetic differances or anything like that ... and how can i tell if the car has gone for a recall or not .. and is a warrenty a good idea with these cars as i have bin reading there seems to be alot of problems but im not discouraged one bit allways wanted a rotary .. any advice will be great guys thanks :driving

231bhp is 6 port also 6 speed transmission
190bhp is 4 port and 5 speed transmission

The 231s have xenon head lights so will have the head light washers on the front bumper. They also come with metal pedals as standard but they were an optional extra on the 192 so could be a red herring.

As tyson says the main difference is the 231 is a six speed so a quick look at the gear knob is the best way to be sure.

6 speed gearbox, Xenon lights, headlamp washers and alloy pedals are all standard on the 231.  192s have 5 speed boxes, halogen lights, rubber covered pedals and no headlamp washers.  231s have a 9000 rpm redline whereas 192s have a 7800 rpm redline.
