I saw Mitch enquire about a twin set up in the for sale section. Made me think...

What\'s needed to run twins? And what are the pros and cons of running twins on an FC? When I say twins I mean the stock twins off an FD, am I right in thinking that you can put out around 400bhp from the stock FD twins? So that\'s 100(ish) more than the stock turbo on the FC. Anyone else done it? Should make for an interesting debate. So:-

1. What\'s needed for twin set up on FC (fueling, ecu\'s, change intercooler?)
2. What are the positives (include everything, track, drift road use etc)
3. What are the negatives for twins on the FC (install cost? Is single better than twin?)

Go for the twin TD06 kit that keeps coming up - that should keep you in fresh underwear...

Just did a quick search on rx7club, most people seem to be saying it\'s to much hassle. That the lim has to be grinded down or something? Maybe some one else can shed light, I hate searching through that yank forum! They chat so much bull crap it makes threads a real task to read.

*suggests twin turbo with T88 and TA45*.....*something like 60psi of boost if staged*.....*million degree intake charge*....*6 missing apex seals*

The stock fd twins are huge POS, you would be attaching a heat soaking lump of iron to the side of your engine. One thing I find good with the fc is that they came with a single turbo! Simples.

One small to mid range turbo on a standard engine would be the best thing to do if I was going to do it, will keep it good for every day driving. And will thrash the pants off most things.

2 tdo6\'s is a good idea, but that in my eyes means twice as much crap to worry about. Air filters, exhausts, wastegate, BOV?

Or if you were to really want the twins I think it would be far simpler to get a complete FD engine, make some brackets for mounting. Fd mounts on the rear, fc in the middle and just run a stand alone ecu, apex, for the engine only.

Mitch compound turbos would push the damn rotors out of the exhaust ports with that amount of boost never mind the apex seals!!! Hehehehe

I like how that is a conversion kit :P

Wow, that looks very interesting! :)
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

So basically it\'s better to stick with a single turbo set up? This is fine I was just interested!

One of the reasons why I bought an FC was that it had a single turbo as standard, there are loads of FDs that are wanting to go single after the hastle and limitations of the twin turbo pack etc.

Its probably easiest to go with a single turbo like a T04 or a GT4088 like I was going to do, they are fairly cheap and are tried and tested.

Also another thing with larger turbos, yes do have lag, but it also means that you can drive off boost much easier, I know with my OEM turbo it spools instantly to 0.5bar and chucks fuel in lol I know with my TA45 its going to take time before it opens the taps from the fuel tank, so will be running on the primary rail 550s probably more than the OEM turbo.

Ah it\'s good to find out all the options, I\'ll keep with my stage 1 plan for now anyway :)

i kinda like the idea of a small supercharger and a big single turbo. no lag with high power im sure it can be done fairly cheaply but as far as lag goes if your driving in thright gear at the right revs when you want to use the turbo you dont really get much lag.

if you were in 5th at 2000rpm then yer there would be big lag but if it was 3rd at 5000rpm there wouldnt be much to worry about.
